What You Can Expect

New York Sailboat Cruise with Wine, Cheese and Charcuterie

Set sail for a late afternoon wine-tasting cruise

Head to the North Cove Marina on the Hudson River in Lower Manhattan to board the 48-passenger Shearwater, your classic sailing vessel for the afternoon. A beautiful sailboat built in 1929 from native hardwoods, the Shearwater is one of New York City’s only floating designated landmarks! Your expert crew will explain the story behind this interesting historical fact.

If you're up for it, help raise the sails or take a turn at the helm. Then, take a seat or relax on the wraparound deck as you set sail along New York Harbor. Have your camera ready as you enjoy views of the Brooklyn Heights and Manhattan skylines, as well as the Red Hook neighborhood, Battery Park, the Verrazano Bridge, Governors Island, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

During your sail, you’ll be served four wines, starting with some reds and whites and finishing with a Prosecco. The lineup constantly changes and is often themed, but the wines are always handpicked from your expert host, so you’ll get a comprehensive taste of some of the oldest and best-known wine labels from around the world.

Pair your wine with cheese and charcuterie sourced from a popular Brooklyn shop specializing in high-end, unique cheeses and meats. Tastings vary week to week, but generally include a variety of meats, medium-soft and hard cheeses, plus dried fruits, nuts and cornichons.

Savor the last of your relaxing afternoon on the water as you finish up your tastings and make your way back to the North Cove Marina.

Beautiful day at NY bay

All was good, but the wine was for tasting....portions a little on the stingy side. However, the boat trip even without the wine was worth the fare and beers were available for those who were thirsty for one! Not much wind for us so we motored out and got an up close view of the Statue of Liberty. Good views of manhattan skyline, New hersy, Ellis Island and Governors Island

Beautiful day, lovely welcoming hosts, gorgeous old sailing vessel, fantastic cruising and getting up close to the Lady.
The experience was wonderful but just a couple of disappointing facets; they didn't stop me enjoying the sail though. Wines we tasted were from Spain? Coming to America from a wine producing nation like OZ it was disappointing that such a perfect sailing experience was not supported by US wines. I was looking for every opportunity to experience the best of the US.
Identification of Marina on trip information was good but no locals in the area could confirm we were at the right jetty- maybe some signage at the dock would be helpful. And just a tip: it would have been preferable that we were emailed/contacted once the issue with the amenities was confirmed as a problem.
Don't take these criticisms as a reason not to do this cruise; it was a wonderful way to spend Sunday afternoon. Call it constructive criticism.

Great trip with frienda or significant other. The boat was quiet, but had a nice relaxing atmosphere. Cheese platters were tasty and the wines were delicious. Spectacular views and knowledgable host. Wouldn't hurt too have more wines than what was given.
