This was a good trip, but I would recommend only going as far as Arthur's Pass. It is a little tiring doing the day trip.

The views were spectacular. The carriages are reasonably comfortable. The only negative was that the viewing ares are too small for the number of passengers being carried.

A beautiful experience - gorgeous sights - recommend to anyone contemplating visiting the South Island to make this trip a 'must do'.

There are some fantastic scenery views along this journey, and the seats are very comfortable. We got some great photos.

A very good day out, especially as the weather was bright and sunny. Well worth doing the return trip as we noticed different things each way.

Return trip is far too long. Best bit is Springfield to Arthurs Pass, but once you have seen it the return is not very interesting. Hardly time to see anything in Greymouth - let alone compete with everyone for lunch.

This trip takes a day away from your schedule. Balancing what I might have done with that day, I would say skip this trip. Don't forget - you have to get up to Greymouth, and get back, which is a long day in a train seat. Seeing one particular Alpine top was exhilarating, and the Canterbury plains were extensive. But all in all, I would recommend another tour.
