Begin your Normandy Battlefields Tour with a drive to Pointe du Hoc, where the infamous German gun position threatened the Allied ships all the way to Utah and Omaha. The site with its huge fortification blown to pieces is still today as it was when the Rangers left it and looks like a lunar landscape. Pointe du Hoc is one of the favorite stops for many visitors.

After this visit, drive along the coast to Omaha Beach where soldiers of the 29th and 1st Divisions landed, fought and died.

Overlooking the bluff is the American Military Cemetery, where 9,387 service men rest in peace. Always keep in mind the movie "Saving Private Ryan".

The Juno Beach Center retraces the implementation of the Canadian Army during fighting in Europe. Located in the heart of Juno Beach, the fishing and leisure port of Courseulles-sur-Mer was liberated by the Canadian forces in the early morning of D-Day. A large and high Cross of Lorraine overlooks Juno between Courseulles and Graye-sur-Mer to remember the landing of Charles de Gaulle on the 14th of June 1944.

Continue down the hill to Bernieres sur Mer where the Queen's Own Rifles, Fort Garry Horse and the Regiment of la Chaudiere came ashore, you can look at their Memorials and walk past the QORC House.

Next stop is the Canadian Cemetery near the villages of Beny-sur-Mer and Reviers, next to where the 3rd Canadian Division landed. Over 2000 Canadian, British and French soldiers are buried here, they paid with their life in the fight for Liberty.

The airport of Carpiquet was one of the objectives for the Allies on D-Day. One of the last remains of the German fortifications around the aerodrome of Carpiquet can still be seen next to the main entrance of the modern airport.

Last stop on this tour is Ardenne Abbey, the site of execution of Canadian prisoners of war by the child soldiers of the Hitler Youth Division.
