Set in 1962, Hairspray is the story of plain-jane Tracy Turnblad, who is going to do whatever it takes to dance her way onto TV's most popular show. Can a big girl with big dreams - and even bigger hair - turn the whole town around?
With big girls, big hair, and even bigger laughs, comes Hairspray, a splashy new musical based on the 1988 John Waters film. It's 1962 and Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one dream--to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning teen queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and intergrate a TV network, all without denting her 'do!
