This tour was fantastic - Sid, the local guide, really felt like a friend, and my husband and I had a great time spending the afternoon walking around the city with him. We were both defeated by the franchesinha, haha! It was exactly what we were looking for, he took us to places we would not have found on our own.
I booked this tour the same week I headed to Porto and was really happy with everything about it except the rain :. The gorgeous Virginia is a wonderful ambassador for the sights, food and wine of this beautiful city and it was great value. I thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Porto!
BEST trip EVER!!! Our tour guide was wonderful and the entire group really enjoyed themselves! A
Had a great tour with Virginia. She was very informative and took us to places we wouldn't have found on our own. The food and wine was fantastic especially the port tasting. Would recommend to anyone visiting Porto.
This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Sid, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and really made the tour interesting. This tour is incredible value for the cost and we enjoyed full portions of a lot Porto's best known snacks and drinks. Highly recommended!!!
Incredible tour for the experience, deliciousness and value for money - once again all down to our tour guide Sid, who we also had for the Porto Segway Tour provided by the same company. I also could not recommend this tour highly enough, as it provides you with the time to truly get to know the city from your tour guide, all while sitting comfortably eating delicious food and sampling excellent wine.
We sampled many traditional dishes during the course of the tour, which included: a custard tart covered in cinnamon, codfish cakes washed down with a shot of Eduardino a traditional Porto drink and the Francesinha, a packed meat sandwich covered in cheese and a fried egg with chips and spicy sauce.
Wine and cheese was also sampled at a local wine shop, with the locals there also incredibly friendly and happy to divulge information on the port wine and traditional cheeses we were being served.
This was our second tour with Sid, a true Porto local, who knows the city inside out. Any question we threw at him about the history of Porto, or the significance of the cafes and restaurants we were eating at, he answered and we remembered. His hilarious anecdotes and experiences of Porto made it so we felt like we were talking to a friend rather than a tour guide. He is one of the major reasons we had such a fantastic time in Porto, one that I am sure will not be forgotten for a long time :
P.S. Please read my review on the Porto Segway Tour, also provided by the local tour company. Would highly recommend it to get to know the architecture and history of the city whilst having loads of fun!
We ate, drank and saw a lot! Our guide Virginia did a great job providing historical background while walking to each location. She was very friendly, knowledegable and kept a good pace. My wife was the only Portuguese person on the tour but Virginia spoke English so everyone could be included.
We did this at the start of our trip and Virginia helped us by suggesting other places we could visit during the rest of our Holiday. She had lots of information about the City and tailored the tour to meet our needs. So glad we did this, I don't the holiday would of been as good as it was if we hadn't done this at the start.
Be hungry loads of food. Disappointed in Franchesine sandwich. Every thing else lovely. Our guide was very engaging
This tour was exceptional. Our guide was wonderful. Very professional but also very warm and friendly. We sampled some superb food. This tour is a must, not only for the food and wine, but for the general history and culture lesson. We went to some diverse and very interesting parts of Porto. A fascinating place, which this tour showcases in an exemplary fashion.
Virginia was a delightful host making a great day very special.
A must while in Porto. Virginia was our amazing guide and did such a fantastic job sharing Porto with us. This tour is a great way to enjoy the culture and tasty samplings of their delicious foods. She took us to places I would never have know about on my own. I have nothing but great things to say about this tour. I will be back to beautiful Porto again someday,
Great tour guide Virginia took us to oldest cafes, deli and other special places in Porto to sample the local foods and try various combos of wines and ports that went with each petite treat and all on foot.
The whole tour group was English speaking so she may have been frustrated with her little entourage at times given we were all happy to speak in our native tongue after being in various parts of Portugal and not speaking the language.
A fun time had by all
We had a group of 9 and got Sid as a tour guide. Great time and what a fun tour. Perfect for outgoing 20 year olds that like to party. Highly recommend! Thanks!
This tour was in incredible value for the money. Our guide, Virginia, took us to several about 6 or 7 different stops during our food tour of Porto, introducing us to the food and drink of the region. We stopped in little shops that we never would have discovered on our own, experiencing classics like port and the local Francesinha sandwich as well as local secrets such as the anise flavored Eduardino liquor that fishermen used to drink in the mornings. We all left feeling quite full and a little buzzed. A perfect afternoon in my book! Virginia was very friendly and eager to share her city. Definitely take this tour at the beginning of your Porto experience so that you will know exactly what to eat and drink during the remainder of your stay.
Virginia was very interesting and knowledgeable about Porto. We tried few dishes and obscure places we wouldn't have considered entering if we were on our own. It is definitely worth it.
LOVE this!! Our Bluedragon tour guide was awesome. She took us to hole in the wall places where the locals go. We sampled traditional Portuguese food and drinks while listening to the history of this beautiful and hilly city through it's food. Go into this tour with an empty stomach because you eat a lot while also drinking a lot too! Great way to get to know Porto. Would highly recommend this tour:
Perfect way to gather your bearings on the city of Porto. ability to try local foods and wines while also learning where everything is is the best part.
Vanessa was great as the guide and showed as well as taught us to experience local food and wines
This tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide Virginia was not only delightful and accomodating but also very knowledgeable about Porto and its' food. The food and drinks we tasted were of high quality. The Nata Lisboa from Flores Porto were better than the ones in Lisbon, so fresh! Word of warning. Don't eat anything before you go or you won't be able to eat everything your given.
We had an amazing time on this tour. We had no idea that the food would be so diverse and delicious in Porto. There was just three of us so the tour was small and personal allowing us to ask questions and get additional information on the history and culture of Porto. Definitely one of the best parts of our trip!
Sid was an amazing tour guide! He knew all the best spots and was knowledgeable about Porto! He made the tour feel personal as if it was a friend taking you around the city! I recommend this tour and company!
