We did the early morning walk (6am) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was friendly and very informative. Would recommend this as a must do for anyone of average physical ability when visiting Oahu.

This is a must do! The climb was more a 3 activity instead of rated 2 but the view is worth the extra work to get there. Thoroughly enjoyed!!

The tour was great We had Dave. He was very knowledgable and friendly and well deserving of a tip at the end. We learnt alot of facts and information. Such wonderful views also. The only thing I was disappointed with was that we didn't get to see the sunrise as it was coming up (could be the time of year perhaps?) but it was a great tour all the same. Will definitely recommend to others.

One of the best things I've done on my trip. There were only 4 people in my tour group and the guide was very knowledgeable and adapted to the pace of our group. He told us a lot of interesting things about the plant and animal life as well as some history (there's a look-out point he took us down where they probably saw the planes attack Pearl Harbor). Everything was very prompt. He offered us water and backpacks to use if we wanted and we all got certificates at the end!
I was traveling alone so I didn't want to go off and do a hike on my own when it would be safer to do it with a group. For me it was money well spent. I think it's also good if you're interested in the crater itself and not just the hike up...although you get both on this tour! A great way to spend the morning!
Oh...forgot to mention. Their morning time is perfectly scheduled so that you miss the sunrise rush, but still get to hike up while it's cool. Perfect timing. They really know what they're doing.

Diamond Head was a very easy 1/2 mile walk from our hotel in Waikiki. However, we opted to take this tour in order to learn the history of the crater. Without benefit of the tour guide, you really are just taking a hike on a tuff volcano on the shores of Waikiki Beach. Our tour guide provided us with the history from "birth" to present day and was most definitely worth the tour price.
