What You Can Expect
Green Grotto Caves Shore Excursion
A fascinating piece of both Jamaican nature and history, the Green Grotto Caves are near Discovery Bay. As you explore the caves, you’ll see stalagmites, stalactites and a subterranean lake. Hear stories of slaves who hid in the caves, and marvel at the limestone formations. As a route of escape for the Spaniards during the English invasion in the 1600s and as a place to hide rum barrels during WWII, the history of Green Grotto Caves is rich.
This fantastic Ocho Rios shore excursion gives you the chance to see some of the best of Jamaica during the short time that you are in port.

We had been to Ocho Rios before and had seen the falls and gardens, I would highly recommend the trip to the Green Grotto Caves. It is really worth seeing. The guide at the cave was outstanding. We walked through with another couple. You wear hard hats so that you don't bump your head on the low areas. We were pick up at the port and it was a 45 minute drive to the cave.

This tour was exactly as described, and more fun and entertaining than expected because of our guide "Johnson" who was a gentleman in every way and focused on making sure we had a good trip. The cave was well laid out to accomodate several groups of tourists-good lighting, handrails where possible, and seating at scattered locations. The cave guide enjoyed relating the history and made sure everyone was safe without being overbearing. Highly recommend if you've been to Jamaica before and have a few hours to spend seeing a beautiful part of the island.
