After meeting your guide in central Paris, you'll travel by luxury minivan to the charming town of Amiens, the capital of Picardy, a beautiful region approximately two hours north of Paris. On arrival, you'll head to the Amiens Christmas Market, renowned as one of the largest and best festive markets in France. Enjoy a guided walking tour around this authentic Christmas market, and sip on a glass hot mulled wine (vin chaud) while you shop.
Next, visit the Cathedral of Notre Dame (also known simply as Amiens Cathedral), where you can listen to an audio-guide as you stroll around inside. This stunning cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture -- it’s one of the largest classic Gothic churches of the 13th century. In the evening, a 45-minute atmospheric laser light show takes place. Highlighting the magnificence of the cathedral, the light show illuminates the sculptures that decorate the façade of the cathedral, revealing how they would have looked 700 years ago, when their painted surfaces would have been apparent.
After the show, you will have leisure time before returning to Paris with your guide. Take the opportunity to explore Amiens' St Leu area (also known as the old quarter), which was built in a Flemish style, or seek out a local restaurant for dinner (not included).
