This tour was wonderful and our guide Ricardo was outstanding. He really has a passion for what he does and his knowledge about French history kept us enthralled and sometimes laughing. He was the best!
Great tour and our guide Roseanne was also great. Small group helped a lot as with the minivan we could park closer to avoid as much walking.
We booked this tour because my wife loves Versailles and she wanted to make sure we saw ALL of it, AND skipped the lines. This tour was absolutely awesome, especially thanks to our tour guide, Riccardo! They picked us up at our hotel, and Riccardo wore a little mic headset so he could tell us about Paris and the buildings we were passing on the way out of the city. As we entered Versailles, he explained the history of the city and the grounds/landscape. He walked us through the palace with special headsets so we could hear him talk. It was really busy, but we still got lots of great pictures and were able to push through to the front of each rooms rope barrier to get shots without people in them. The tour of the palace ended and Riccardo explained we had about 1.5 hours to explore the gardens and gift shop before meeting for lunch. We could have spent all day in the gardens aloneits unfathomable how large and impressive they are. The walls which look like simple rows of bushes on the maps you see are actually towering, making you feel like youre in a maze! There are benches, fountains, flowers and pathways everywhere you turn.
We met for lunch at a restaurant right off the canal in the gardens and enjoyed the delicious food and wine.
After lunch, we still had several hours ahead of us to explore the Petit and Grand Trianons, the Queens hamlet, and all the gardens and paths that went along with them including a petting zoo and the Temple of love. It was quite an experience, and by the end of the day we were exhausted.
Highly recommend this tour if you are a history buff and want to see ALL of Versailles! Thanks Riccardo!
Great experience. Well informed guide. Lunch was very enjoyable and good quality
Small group tour was a great way to understand and enjoy Versailles and its history. The Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon and Marie Antoinette's hamlet were charming and a valuable part of the experience. Guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Hotel pickup and drop-off eases stress of a day long excursion.
THis trip was fabulous due to our guide Michelle. She was amazing. She had an in depth knowledge of the history of Versailles and was very humorous. The palace was so crowded it was dangerous, too many people and you could not see the exhibits and there was not enough security to stop tourists from touching exhibits and taking flash photography. The gardens were great even in the rain
Great Tour. Highly recommend. Pick up was punctual, professional and educational guided tour, sufficient time in the garden, yummy lunch.
Excellent trip. Our guide Isabell was excellent. We got into Versailles ahead of the crowd and enjoyed a great lunch.
A cold rainy day could not stop us on this "history buff's must do tour ". My tour guide Michelle was like the history channel ;elaborating on little and well know facts about everything on the tour. Every question received a knowledgeable response! Kudos to her !
This tour was informative, convenient, fun, and pleasant. Our guide, Michelle, is as good as it gets. She was responsible, polite, knowledgable and efficient. This is the way to visit Versailles. We were lucky, as there were only 3 people in the group. Food was mediocre and headsets could be better.
Again a great way to see this and to be picked up n dropped off is a great idea
Once again a very good guide Michele who took time to explain
The lunch was a bit of a shame the steak was tough n chewy however the wine made the difference
This tour was wonderful. It was insightful without getting laden down with an abundance of facts. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating and prompt. The lunch was relaxing and delicious. Very convenient pick up and drop off. Highly recommend this our for any on wishing to spend a day at Versailles.
Our tour was a private tour due to low season winter but our guide was A++ and took us on plenty of extras throughout the day - he made the day!
Our tour guide Isabell was very knowledgeable and the trip was efficient and well run. They picked us up right at our apartment at Place de BASTILLE, and dropped us there as well. The included lunch was good
This tour was a bit of a splurge for our family...but well worth it. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable. She picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at night. She gave us a full tour of the premises (the main palace and trianon and included the farm animals as well to delight the children. The lunch was great. No complaints at all.
I was picked up on schedule as arranged with the office. The day was well paced and the continuing commentary was both interesting and professionally presented. Michelle was wonderful - respectful and professional.
Great way to see Versailles and learn its history. Our guide Vincent was an excellent storyteller. It was a small group so we were all able to ask questions. Skipping those long lines (even in the winter) was a definite plus.
Isabella was a wonderful tour guide for this particular tour, and was able to give us wonderful and fun facts about the Royal family, and the palace itself. She went into great detail about the design, interior and the palace furnishings, which was incredibly insightful. She was also able to keep us entertained driving through Parisian traffic to Versailles. They are true to their word with small groups - there were only 5 people in my group!
I was picked up from the place I was staying at with no problems in the morning, and it didn't take long to pick up the other guests and head to Versailles. The palace is a wonderful place, and you can really take in the extent of the opulence and wealth of the upper class and nobility. In the tour you are able to view the royal apartments, the gardens (which are beautiful even in winter), Marie Antoinette's chateau, the chapel where Marie Antoinette and King Louis were married, the hall of mirrors (which is stunning), and other small rooms. Isabella gave detailed descriptions and information about each place we visited throughout the tour.
Lunch was average, but delicious - salad for starters, salmon or beef for main, and a fruit tart for dessert. You also do get a complementary glass of wine. I was able to get to know the rest of my group during the lunch, which is always an added plus for these guided tours.
I would definitely recommend a visit to Versailles -- it is a must see if you are planning on a visit to Paris! If you end up getting Isabella as a guide, you're in for a real treat!
