Burgundy Day Trip from Paris
Around midday, enjoy lunch at an excellent local restaurant (drinks at an additional cost).
After lunch, your day trip continues to the medieval village of Vézelay, (also known as "the Eternal Hill"), home to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Basilica of St Mary Magdalene (Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine), a Benedictine abbey. Enjoy a guided visit of the basilica, which has attracted pilgrims from all over the world since the Middle Ages and is home to beautiful Roman and Gothic art, as well as supposed relics of St Mary Magdalene.
The basilica also has historical importance as the place where Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) and Philip Augustus met before heading to the Third Crusade. Today it is a famous starting point for pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. During your tour, your guide will explain the fascinating history surrounding the basilica.
Before returning to Paris, you'll have free time to explore the village of Vezelay at leisure. Take this opportunity to explore local cafes, try other Burgundy wines (at your own cost) or simply enjoy the scenic countryside.

This is a wonderful day trip away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. It was relaxing and comfortable. The Chablis region is a quaint trip back in time. The boeuf bourguignon lunch was fantastic and we met some really nice people along the way. Great trip.
