The cathedral and the town were both excellent. Our Guide was excellent both in her knowledge and enthusiasm.
Me and my wife had a perfect trip. We had a very knowledgeable guide, who made sure all the people on tip enjoyed it. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to spend a day out of the office
Great the cathedral is magnificent. Would have liked more time in the town of Chartre to explore.
Exceptional! We spent an entire day with Hubert, our guide, who was very knowledgeable, interesting and personable. High marks all around!
Lots of time to visit the cathedral as well explore the town. Lunch was delicious. The outdoor patio setting in the sunshine was a bonus.
Loved having a knowledgeable guide and six other interesting travellers.
The whole journey from start to finish was a pleasure. Fabrice was a good guide--just enough oversigtht and just enought degrees of freedom. The cathedral and the whole town of Chartres was a highlight. Our fellow travelers were all a pleasure and lunch was fun. All-in-all, a perfect day.
Great, the guide made the trip so much better with all the facts and details.
We combined this with 5 days in Paris. Very worthwhile trip to see a French town and fascinating cathedral. Too bad much of the inside was closed for renovation. On the other hand, I praise the French for taking good care of their historic treasures like this. the guide was very good...not too long-winded, but he knew his stuff. Small group of just 4 on the trip. Would definitely do it again.
This was a most interesting experience. The ride with our driver/guide was pleasant. What we did not appreciate was that Chartres closes on a Monday. There were no shops open and no people in the streets. In many ways it was nice to be able to walk around a ghost town but 'shopping' is part of the tourist' experience and it suffered that day. The Cathedral is magnificent and well worth a visit. The town would look a lot different when it is in operation so we are not sure what we missed but felt that we had suffered by going on a Monday. Lunch was out of this world. I can not recall a more relaxed lunch. The food was to die for. We overstayed our lunch period but none of us wanted to leave. We will do this tour again someday but not on a Monday
There were only three other guests with my sister and me on this tour and it was lovely. Our guide had a very heavy French accent and was difficult to understand at times, but he was very nice and did the best he could to answer our questions. There were two other guides with him who were in training and they were also very friendly. The pick up at our hotel was really convenient and the van was comfortable. We had plenty of time to see the Cathedral at Chartres and the stained glass museum. The place we stopped for lunch was fabulous! The whole day was just very relaxing and fun. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want a small group experience.
I was surprised that the guide chose not to have lunch with us. Usually that's a good time for informal conversation about what we have seen so far.
The tour guide was not very fluent in English, and did not have much to say anyway. He was reluctant to allow us to climb the tour at the cathedral to see the view, and was keen to return to Paris asap.
Chartres wasn't that interesting. It took a long time to get there and the Paris churches were more worth seeing.
