Loved this! Arrive at the bakery and not only was the baker extremely nice, so was the translated. Learning to make baguette and croissants in Paris! Downstairs by the oven is warm obviously, but so worth it. Don't wear uncomfortable shoes, standing the entire time.
Great to be able to do both baguettes and croissants in the same class. Charming baker with cute smile and lots of tips for trying it on your own. French to English interpeter was a wonderful woman.
We loved this workshop. It was definitely one of the highlights of our Paris trip. we learned lots about bread making and pastry making and look forward to trying out the recipes at home- we are still waiting for them to be sent. Martin was lovely and the interpreter was good too. The class was less hands on than we expected but still worthwhile.
My friend and I ended up having a private workshop as no one else signed up that day. The baker was so nice and welcoming, and our translator was very good as well. Great class and so much fun!
This class was fantastic and was a lot of fun. We learned how to make several different breads and pastries and had a lot of fun doing it. The recipes were sent out promptly as we'll.
What a great experience! So much more goes into making baguettes and croissants than I would have guessed.
Of all our tour experiences, this one was "the best" so educational and with a lot of interaction. Class size is small which is perfect. The baker is wonderful. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about his profession, enabling him to pass on many of his "tips for success" when baking at home. Even President Obama's head chef attended one of his classes because he is so remarkable.
My family and I had a great time with the cooking workshop. The master baker was excellent. We would recommend this to anyone.
Of all that we did in Paris this was the best tour. The location was easy to find and our tour guide met us promptly before the tour. She provided significant information about what we were to experience and set the stage for a great time. We were fortunate as there were only two us on this tour and so we had a very intimate and informative time. The Chef was engaging, witty and passionate about the subject. This is truly a hands on event and all the better. Our 2 hour tour turned into 3 and we were provide many opportunities to get 'hands on' with baking. Bring your camera as you will want to take many pictures. As part of the tour the Chef puts you on his email list and sends you recipes, tips and ideas on the topics.
Our Chef was engaging and very supportive of our attempts to "bake the bread". If you're in Paris and done with the typical visitor activities, this is the tour that takes you into the heart of Parisian Life, how to make the Baguette and Pastry.
Great experience for the whole family to get an insider view of a typical Parisian bakery and insight into how great bread is made
This was the best Viator tour we have taken! It was fantastic and we learned so much about French bread-baking! Now we are anxiously awaiting receiving copies of the recipes so we can try baking more bread! We loved this 'hands on" experience!
Very delicious croissants!!! The staff where really nice and friendly,I would
Do it again.
This workshop was one of the highlights of our holiday in Paris. Our family had wonderful fun whilst being taught the secrets to the perfect baguette and croissant. The baker and the translator worked beautifully together and we can not recommend this highly enough. Also, our take away treats were very tasty!
This class was simply amazing and more fun than we could have imagined. The coordination between the baker (who doesn't speak English) and our guide, Solene (who was translating) was excellent, so that one always kept pace with the how and why of the process. I attended with my daughter and grandaughter, so there was quite a span of ages, and we all agreed the workshop was one of the highlights of our trip. Even if you don't think you'll ever actually make a baguette at home, (and we're going to give it a try,) this is just too much fun to pass up.
Possibly the BEST thing we have ever done in Paris!! We had a fabulous time and it was a privilege to have the full attention of someone who is so passionate about his products. We learnt heaps but just being able to watch a master baker "do his thing" was priceless. An amazing morning - thank you!
What a morning! How fabulous! One of the best things we did in Paris - a must for every person with a love of the French and French people. A real hands on, fun learning experience - don't hesitate it is worth the money and more!
We had a wonderful baking experience. It was hands-on with excellent instruction. Our translator, Antonia, was very knowledgeable and shared interesting history of baguettes and croissants. They were very patient with us and we laughed a lot! Our only disappointment was that the recipes are not detailed enough and we had some difficulty converting measurements to U.S. We highly recommend this Paris experience!
The opportunity to have a hands on class with an award winning artisan French baker is not to be missed. Even if you don't make your own bread, you will gain a better appreciation of what makes a great bread or pastry. Loved Dittier's humour and his passion for his craft is mesmerising.
This was FANTASTIC. What a great way to see the real Paris. Lovely family owned bakery with tips by one of the top ten Baguette bakers in France. It could be intimidating not to know much of the language, but Antonia was a great translator and Diddier was a very patient teacher. Would love to take another class.
I did 3 tours back to back and this was by far the best one. Really personal, very hands on and such great tips I would never have known. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
I took this class with my dad - we were the only two people who had signed up for the day. However, that was totally fine because the kitchen would probably have gotten crowded had more people been there, considering that the class took place in an active bakery. We learned a lot, and it was a lot of fun, despite the fact that the baker didn't actually speak any English - we had a great translator, and the baker slowed down his explanations for me so I could attempt to understand with my mediocre French. All-in-all, it was fun, the food was good, and I want to make bread all the time!
Charming french-only speaking chef / bakery owner and guide/ translator (in English and Japanese) meeting in the bakery kitchen. Directions and explanations may have lost a bit in the translation. Fun was had by all - including a 15 year old boy and 70 year old man. Left with a bag full of delicious croissants and bagettes.
We enjoyed our time with this experience. It was fascinating and fun. However, the cost was far above the value received.
Initially an error was made and we were sent on a tour of a bakery instead of the hands on course. We found it to be very good, but wondered about the difference between the description of the workshop and what we had experienced. By the time we got back to our hotel there was a message waiting for us and when we called the tour company back they apologized and said they had sent us to the wrong tour. They offered us another workshop at no charge and we accepted. The workshop was wonderful. The expert baker was very entertaining, very easy going, and very funny. He did not speak english, but through the interpreter and fundamental french we communicated easily. We learned the insider secrets of french techniques in making the two types of baguette, french pastry, and croissant. Be prepared though.. the techniques are somewhat elaborate. We were glad we took the initial tour as it gave us a leg up. If you have a passion for good food and an interest in making good food you will surely enjoy.
