This tour was nothing short of amazing. You cover so much in one day but it is not too much. We actually took our children ages 4 and 2 and even they did very well with the length of the bus ride. I would recommend this to anyone who goes to Paris.
Took a long day trip from Paris (14 hours) to the Caen military museum, Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc and Juno Beach with Viator. First let me say that if you have more time I would take a 1-2 day tour from Bayeux. You will get a much more in depth experience. However, if you headquartered in Paris for a short time only, then a long one day, highlights only tour, will work for you. Viator had a deluxe bus for fifty. The two onboard guides were knowledgeable and provided a lot of interesting facts with no political agenda. 2 hours with lunch at museum. 1 hour and Pointe du Hoc. 1+ hours at the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach (plenty of time to walk down to the sand.......awesome experience). 45 minutes at Juno Beach. Left Paris at 7:00 arrived back just after 9. Again, this should be considered a highlight only tour. I am a "very amateur" history buff, but I learned some things about the battle from this short tour that I never knew. Had a slight overpayment issue with the company that was resolved within 48 hours with a credit to my card Amex account. Very reputable company. RECOMMEND
Had an awesome day with great people and wonderful and informative tour guides. Highly recommended, and the lunch was DELICIOUS!
I would give this tour 10 stars if I could! David, our driver/guide picked us up at our hotel at 6:30 a.m. in an 8-passenger Mercedes Van. His knowledge of the Paris, Normandy area, the battleground sites, etc. was extraordinary! We stopped half-way there for a bathroom/coffee break; very considerate! The beaches, cemetery, memorials, etc. we saw were such a moving/emotional experience. David made it come alive for us! To think that the events that took place here 70 years ago completely changed our world! Lunch near the village of Crepon at Ferme de la Raconniere was one of the best meals we had on our entire 12-day trip! Thank you so much for a fabulous and educational and fun day!
Guide for the tour was Pablo, who was extremely knowledgeable and personable with a terrific sense of humor. For the most part, enough time was spent at each location on the tour (I wish I’d had a little more time on Omaha beach but it was still sufficient to pay my respects to our fallen heroes). Lunch was at a beautiful little bed and breakfast I believe was called ferme de la Rançonnière. It included 3 courses, a small glass of a white wine combined with black-current and two additional bottles of wine for the group (no more than 8 tourists, we had 7). I would most certainly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit the D-Day landing beaches. In fact, I would be happy to take the same tour again.
The tour was awesome! Vincent was a great guide and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. The lunch stop was great also - one of our favorite meals.
A great experience. I t was wonderful watching my family ( especially my 19 yr old granddaughter} have
this experience. The Caen Museium is a must see for anyone who takes this trip. Coming back into Paris
at 9 pm and seeing the Eifel Tower lit up AND the strobe lights come on was a great ending. I had been hoping for my family to see this. Guide Michelle was excellent. Catharine Norton, Fort Wayne, IN
Guide was fantastic! Lunch was very good and the place charming. We were picked up on time and the whole day went smoothly. We could have used more time in the visitors center at the cemetery. A must do for any American.
What a great trip! When you get to the museum, make sure you see the film. It's split-screen; the left shows the Allies and the right shows the Germans. You see them preparing for the invasion and then you see what happens once it starts. It's actual film, not a re-enactment. It's one of the most compelling films I've ever seen.
Wonderful tour with excellent guides! Their commentary while on the bus riding to our destinations was very informative. We saw everything we were promised and the lunch was filling and good. Only wish was that they would allow more time on Omaha beach. We felt a bit rushed there
The tour was all that we hoped it would be. The bus was very nice, it left on time and the tour guides were very friendly and informative. We knew we would not be able to see everything we wanted to see, but if you are already in Paris and have limited time, this is the tour to take. Point du Hoc was inspiring, it's high cliffs still looking impenetrable, and giving you an understanding of the challenge the Rangers encountered on D-Day. The museum at Caen was comprehensive and well done. The section on the French Resistance was especially interesting. The stop at Omaha Beach helps you understand the depth of the beach and the wide open space the soldiers had to cross before scaling the cliffs. The American cemetery was very moving. We encountered a family that was visiting the grave of an uncle, a young lady was reading one of the letters he had written home. I couldn't help but stop and listen and think about all the other letters that were written home by the young men that were now buried. The ride through the countryside was beautiful, dotted with many farmhouses, both grand and humble. The lunch provided at the museum was unexpectedly good. Go, you will not regret it!
I had an excellent time on the tour and the guide/driver ( Vincent) was perfect, great personality, very informative!
Great tour and a Great day! Our guide Paul was fun and knowledgeable , my pickup time was at 0630 and he was there early. I did the 8 person tour ,we only had five in our group, so the day didn't feel rushed while enjoying all the historic sites. Highly Recommended
