What You Can Expect

Paris Super Saver: Behind-the-Scenes Eiffel Tower plus Montmartre Walking Tour with an Actor

Start your supersaver with an Eiffel Tower tour before discovering Montmartre

Behind-the-Scenes Eiffel Tower Tour (morning)
Your 1.5-hour morning tour starts in front of the Eiffel Tower. Be entertained as your actor guide draws you into a story of a young American woman named Lemony and a French aviator named Antonin, who fall in love at the Eiffel Tower.

Your guide teaches you about the history of Paris and the Eiffel Tower through the adventures of these characters as you enter fascinating areas of the tower that most tourists don’t know about.

Descend into the wartime bunker underneath the lawn adjacent to the tower, known as the Champ de Mars. When the tower housed military communications equipment during World War I, this bunker and its secret network of tunnels were created to serve as an evacuation route. Back above ground, visit the tower’s engine room, where you’ll witness the machinery that powers the hydraulic elevators.

Then use your skip-the-line ticket to bypass the entrance lines and whiz up to the tower’s second-floor observation deck. Admire incredible views of Paris as your guide concludes his story with heroine Lemony’s 100th birthday.

Linger as long as you like, or buy a ticket to the third level for even more dramatic views. You'll have about 2.5 hours to spare prior to your afternoon tour, so it's a great time to grab lunch before making your own way to Montmartre.

Montmartre Walking Tour (afternoon)
In the late afternoon, head to the top of the funicular in Montmartre for your 1.5-hour walking tour. Your actor guide reveals this legendary Paris neighborhood in a whole new light.

Begin with a group photo and embark on your walk in search of the Beautiful Gabrielle — a Moulin Rouge dancer — as you hear about the history, stories and legends of Montmartre during Paris' Belle Epoque, from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Relive this era as you learn about its most famous figures, such as the artists Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Maurice Utrillo. You’ll meet these characters and more, like Moulin Rouge Cancan dancers Valentin Le Désossé and La Goulue, along the way. Montmartre opens up like a real theater play during this interactive tour!

See the Moulin de la Galette, featured in some of Renoir’s most famous Impressionist paintings, and the Au Lapin Agile cabaret, frequented by the bohemian crowd and artists like Picasso and Modigliani.

Visit Place du Tertre, see the unique Passe-Muraille sculpture protruding from a wall, and stumble upon the secret gardens of Clos Montmartre, Paris’ only vineyard that still makes wine.

Then head to Basilique du Sacré Coeur, the crowning jewel of Montmartre, where you’ll admire sweeping views of Paris. Your tour concludes here.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended September 2014

This tour was wonderful! The morning portion was so interesting. We not only learned all about the history of the Eiffel Tower, but got to see the bunker below it as well as how the funicular works. So interesting! We had planned to make it to the afternoon portion of the tour, but had trouble getting there on time, while still getting lunch. I would suggest taking a cab to Montmartre, rather than attempting the metro. The metro stops in paris are further away than you think! Overall, very unique and wonderful tour!
