We thought the trip was great. The cold weather turned almost balmy, the skies were clear and the trip both informative and scenic. A live narration,in both French and English, was provided. The trip through the series of locks was a unique experience.
My partner and I recommend this trip to all ages. Kathleen ( from Seattle Washington)
I was really interested in the canal systems in Paris. This tour didn't disappoint amazing experience and well worth doing something a bit different from the usual river cruise.
We enjoyed the final Canal and River Cruise of the 2012 season on a bright, but slightly chilly Sunday afternoon. I suspect that we were not alone in being unaware that there was a delightful canal through the city. The guide was extremely informative and highly amusing in two languages, ver good value!
Loved it! The guide was friendly and informative. The tour started in the northeastern section of Paris and dropped us off in the center of town near the Orsay. We went through a tunnel and were underneath the streets of the city for a time where larger boats would not have been able to go.
We really enjoyed this tour. The guide Elizabeth was interesting to listen to, and the scenery was amazing, of course. The tunnel was fantastic. It is a pretty slow trip up the canal through the locks, be prepared to just sit for a while. We had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant, where no english was spoken (fabulous!) before using the metro to return to the centre of Paris.
Excellent and interesting trip. Great commentary and well worth the time and price.
This was a great tour. Very informative and scenic. A lot of fun!
Smooth and easy. Simply handed the voucher to the cruise operator and that was that.
This was a highlight of our short Paris stay. We had an excellent guide. The unique travel on the canal through eight "locks" and experiencing Paris neighborhoods by canal boat was spectacular. We highly recommend this tour as part of your seeing "the city of lights."
The tour was great, the tour guide's english was a bit difficult to understand. The tour through the locks was a little boring for me. All in all, I wish I would have taken the traditional Seine River cruise. I would recommend this cruise and it was good.
Because we had been to Paris before and had seen the usual touristy things I decided to do the canal tour through Paris. It started on the Seine and we entered St Martins Canal from there and travelled to the outer suburbs of Paris passing through many locks. This Canal was ordered by Napoleon and was set up to carry water and goods into Paris and so is very old. It was a reaxing half day and we saw a different side of Paris. My husband loved it!
Very informative, totally enjoyable. we saw a section of Paris we did not know existed.
I make it to Paris to visit my brother Once, maybe twice a year. I've seen the sights and am always looking for something new to explore. Bored with the regular cruises on the Seine, I booked this canal cruise - who knew there were canals? _ and had a wonderful 2 1/2 hour tour of the lock system (the tunnel was cool - literally and figuratively). Ending at the Parc de la Villette a was a surprise (http://www.villette.com/fr/ ) and so was the wonderful Science and Technology museum (http://www.cite-sciences.fr/en/cite-des-sciences ) . Loved the Planetarium!
A quick walk to one of two Metro stations and I was back at my brother's in the 14th in minutes. A great way to spend a day...and very reasonably priced also!
Relaxing view of a little known area of Paris. Traveled through 7 locks on the canal. Science Museum at end suitable for children NOT adults. Return via Metro to central Paris.
So glad we did this tour even though we had a seine river cruise included in the Paris Pass. The canal St Martin was gorgeous and took us up to the Parc de Villete where we chose to get off . You could ''catch the boat back' through the canal again to the starting point or get off and walk/ metro back on your own. We went through the Parc and then to the Musicale de Cite ourselves (not included in the tour) - the most magnificent museum for musical instruments in the world - just amazing - the audio tour of this museum is fantastic - then we walked back to the Louvre - this is a very long walk but flat and interesting. I highly recommend this tour - for the canal, or for a beautiful way to get yourself to the Parc de Villette. By the way, the roof top seating on the boat was full so we were downstairs - we actually found this better because the big windows open right out and we could walk from one side of the boat to the other to catch the sights on both sides.
The cruise was a great way to get into the neighborhoods/arrondisements of Paris. The guide was knowledgeable, entertaining, and pleasant. We learned alot, and did quite a bit of picture taking. I would highly recommend this for the Novice as well as the Veteran traveller. A must!
Super afternoon seeing a wonderful side of Paris that we have never seen on previous trips.
