Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Skip the Line: Louvre Museum Walking Tour including Venus de Milo and Mona Lisa. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
Our tour guide told us stories behind the master pieces of art in Louvre, and gave us mini lessons in art which helped us appreciate what we saw more. Being able to skip the long line in the heat outside was great. We were allowed to stay longer after the tour and visit other parts of the museum on our own.
The guide was so delightful and I had hoped to hire him as a personal guide through other parts of Paris and would surely have if I had not been injured at the Eiffel Tower, which eliminated my 'un-booked up day', spent getting treatment. Really, there is no better way to experience the collection unless one happens to be an art historian or some other art professional.
Worth the skip the line. We had a great guide whom was passionate and very knowledgeable.
The tour was fantastic. I'm glad I had a guided tour as this place is so big. Our guide was second to none!
The guide was professional and funny. She made comments and what not that were amusing and informative to the tour. The Mona Lisa was smaller than I thought it would be. The museum is very large, divided up to 3 sections and each section being between 3-4 floors. We don't have time to see everything during the tour, but touch upon the main most popular attractions. You will have time after the tour to walk around on your own if you wish. Please note that the meeting area is not by the main entrance where you see the glass pyramid but rather a small Arch (Arc du Carrousel - a mini Arc du Triomphe) which you can see across from the main entrance area. We went during August of 2013, and the weather was a bit warm outside, but the inside isn't too bad. Some rooms are cooler than others.
The extra expense of this tour compared with ordinary admission to the Louvre was well worth it. No hanging about in long lines. A small party of 14 meant we could all keep together easily in what is a huge complex. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. My daughters, first time in Paris, both said they doubted whether they would have got to see the Mona Lisa and Venus di Milo so easily without going on this tour. We were well satisfied with the experience.
Best part of our trip. Guide Caroline was very knowledgeable. Could have spent more hours admiring the paintings and art work. I recommend this tour.
Really enjoyed this tour...its almost overwhelming the vastness of the collection...
Definitely the way to visit highlights, get some great art history insights, and maneuver through the very large museum efficiently and effectively. Isabelle was a great guide! Best value of the three Viator tours on this Paris visit.
Well worth the "Skip The Lines" as the entry lines were huge. The museum was very crowded and would recommend to attend at a time not so busy as it is difficult to see the Mona Lisa.
Alexander was fantastic and passionate. My 11 year old son was very engaged and learned a lot. Must do tour!!!
The tour guide was excellent, the heat and crowds made her job particularly difficult but her passion for the Louvre shone through. The 2 hours went very quickly but provided a 'tapas' of what the Louvre has to offer. I would love to go back and spend some more time.
The only word I can conjure for this tour is ....awesome. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient. The walk is three hours long so comfortable shoes is a must. Further, there is no way that you can see all the Louvre has to offer in just one visit, so be prepared to want to go back again, and again.
Our guide's name was Chatherine and she was amazing!! She was very knowledgeable and professional! We enjoyed the tour with her a lot!!!! Just be aware of the pickpockets as someone in our group's wallet was stolen and the Louvre staff is not vert helpfull in that regard.
The Louvre is overwhelming in size and content, but our guide was absolutely wonderful -- taking us through all the areas and providing us with her knowledge and commentary. An Art History major, she spoke knowledgeably about all things, answered all questions posed to her and made the tour both interesting and a pleasure. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit this incredible museum in order to make sense of it and in order to enjoy it and see it as it should be seen.
