Small-Group Gourmet Food and Market Tour of the Bastille District in Paris

Small-Group Paris Food Tour: Bastille District and Marche d'Aligre

Famous for its pivotal role during the French Revolution, today Paris’ Bastille district is a popular destination for food and wine lovers. Begin your gourmet tour in the heart of this historic area, where you’ll meet your knowledgeable guide.

Stroll along the Bastille’s charming streets, stopping along the way at popular eateries and tucked-away treasures for six different tastings. Indulge your sweet tooth with stops at some of the area’s beloved patisseries for croissants and chocolate, and try a luxuriant combination of muscadet wine and fresh oysters at a local wine bar.

Visit the expansive Marché d’Aligre — a sprawling urban market where local Parisians shop for specialty items and daily provisions. Your local guide will lead you to the best and most interesting vendor stalls hidden among the open-air square and covered portion of the market. Enjoy free time to explore the stalls on your own, and let your guide know about any specific gourmet goods you’re looking for.

To cap off your 3-hour tour, discover an enchanting garden walkway built from old train tracks. After bidding farewell to your guide, you’re free to continue exploring the area on your own — like a true local!

Our young guide Charlotte was very good and made it an enjoyable experience walking around the markets and sampling the fare along the way. A good way to see another side of Paris.

Our guide, Charlottte was excellent. Spoke fluent, easy to understand English. Went at a comfortable pace for us. Allowed us to also interact with the vendors who provided the tastes that were part of our tour. Both had an agenda, and asked for our input as well. Very personable. One of the best activities we did during our 3 day stay.

A really great tour, not only terrific food stops but also extremely interesting history of the area. Alexandra is very knowledgable and showed us little tucked away 'courtyards' that, having been alone, we would have walked straight past. Really delicious tastings just the best croissants! and well worth the money. We would take another tour with Alexandra without hesitation.

Our tour guide Charlotte was fabulous, friendly and heaps of fun. It felt like we were visiting the markets etc with a good friend. We had the best croissant we had ever had, sumptuous fruits and berries from the market, delicious wine and the biggest oysters we had ever seen. This was my hubby's favourite tour. less touristy and more authentic. Thanks so much Charlotte we had an awesome time.
