What You Can Expect

Small-Group Paris Catacombs Tour

See how Paris solved the problem of overflowing cemeteries in the 18th century on your Catacombs tour

Meet your knowledgeable guide at street level and prepare for a 1.5-hour guided tour of the Paris Catacombs. Head down 130 steps to reach the intricate network of tunnels, and follow your guide through what can be a confusing labyrinth.

Hear stories about how the Paris Catacombs were built as a massive underground cemetery, housing the bones of roughly six million people since the 18th century. Paris' dead were moved en masse from existing cemeteries to the Catacombs from 1786 to 1788. By the early 19th century, the Catacombs had already started to attract tourist attention.

This small-group tour is limited to 10 people, which means you'll have plenty of chances to ask questions of your guide as you walk through the tunnels. It's a unique opportunity to see a side of Paris most people miss.

After 1.5 hours touring the Catacombs, the tour comes to an end back at street level when you climb back up the stairs where you started the tour.

Duc was a great guide, full of interesting history and rumors about the Catacombs. Doing the tour allows you to see parts of the Catacombs that are off-limits to the regular tourists and made the experience extra special.

Very good tour. Takes you to areas exclusive areas of the catacombs not accesible on regular tours. Very good guide, gave good context and answered all the questions. Length of the tour is optimal.

PERFECT! The guy was perfect as well! Amazing I totally felt the worth for every penny and plus it would have sucked to stand in the line for 2 hours. Amazing, totally recommend this.

Awesome and very informative. You get to skip the line which saves you so much time. David was very intersting and had fun facts to share. He was even able to take us to private sections that the normal person would not be able to access on their own. Highly recommend!

The guide was indispensable. Skipping the line a desire you will feel comfortable fulfilling. Our trip was in March, 2016, and lines are an hour for each venue we attended....Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Catacombs. The majority of a day would have been spent standing. The Catacombs are beyond incredible! We know what they are, but the 2 kilometers of travel descends you far into the past, deep into the heart of Central Europe the times, emotions, and realities.

Great guide took us through some areas that were otherwise closed to the general public. Stories about certain areas and pointing out things that we otherwise would not have known. We got there early and were able to get a bite to eat nearby before meeting the guide and skipping the 1 hour line to get in.

Guide was very knowledgeable. The tour was a nice small group. It was fantastic not having to wait in the line since that would have taken hours! Well worth it!

This was crazy to say the least - really amazing, more than a little disturbing, and humbling. I highly recommend this tour! After all the opulence of the Louvre and Versailles this brought things back into perspective.
