We had a wonderful day touring Versailles with a fantastic tour guide Nate! Taking a bike was definitely the way to go... we got to see so much more of the grounds and eat lunch from a much better vantage point across the Grand Canal with a direct view of the Palace. The time at the market in the town was really cool too. We learned so much! It was a long day with a fair amount of biking and a lot of walking including the palace tour, so I would recommend this to anyone that is able to handle light-to-moderate exercise. Super fun!
This tour was awesome! Our guide, Unite, was terrific. After meeting at the tour office, we rode the metro to where the bikesthey have baskets were staged then bicycled to the farmer's market to buy picnic supplies. This market is great! It has foods, wine, flowers, crepes, chocolate, coffee and more. Then we rode to Versailles and saw some of the grounds, gardens, village and homes. After a nice lunch along the grand canal, we rode a little more then saw the palace on our ownticket included in the price of tour. After seeing the palace, you can get a snack or coffee in the cafe before leaving. Unite did a great job explaining what we were seeing and giving us some history lessons. I had a lot of fun on this tour! I would recommend this tour instead of just seeing the palace because you see and do so much more.
Wonderful day with tour guide Luca. Well planned and led. Information given just right amount. Cycling and picnicking at the lake unforgettable. Our family with children aged 18 and 10 all thought this was one of the best days we have had.
Cycling not difficult.
Absolutely beautiful tour of the grounds - wouldn and #39;t have seen most of that beauty that day if we wouldn and #39;t have done the biking tour.
Excellent tour! The guide, Unity, did a fantastic job. Keeping 20 people together on bikes on the city streets was a challenge. She kept us all together and always a watchful eye to make sure the stragglers were safe. Great information given and loved the market place.
The best part of our trip was this day tour. Our Guide was fabulous we all felt like we were in the Sound of Music the scenery was that wonderful and beautiful...and the market where we bought our lunch in Versailles was Fabulous, we bought the most wonderful pate's and cheese, baguette and croissants and the absolute Sweetest raspberries any of us have ever eaten. They grow differently up there! FABULOUS.
I can't imagine what I missed out on had I not gone on this tour. There is no way you could have seen these grounds and understood all of the magnificence that is Versailles. Our favorite part besides riding the bikes was the picnic over looking the canals. This was the best part of our European travels.
This was our favorite thing we did in Paris. The market in Versailles was incredible and picnic lunch was best food of trip. Declan, our guide, was amazing!!
Our tour guide Alan was awesome! Despite the rainy weather we had a great time shopping at the local markets for our lunch and even managed to have a picnic before it started pouring! We personally enjoyed the biking thru the gardens and surrounding areas vs being inside Versailles.
Every tour I booked with Viator were amazing! The tour guides super good, defenetly I highly recommend this company and their tours!
This was a GREAT tour! Definitely a must if you're going to Versailles. They escort you on the train, give you a cute bicycle and take you to one of the best markets in France. You buy anything and everything you want for your picnic by the water in front of the palace. The actual palace is magnificent, but for me, pales in comparison to biking around the wonderful grounds.
My friend and I both female, mid-thirties took this tour in mid-May. We were lucky to have great weather - we didn't book until 2 days in advance to ensure we wouldn't have to cycle in the rain. Our guide was Stephen and he was very friendly and lots of fun - went above and beyond, taking photos of us while cycling, opening our wine, and being patient with those of us who got a bit tipsy! The ride was not very challenging, with plenty of stops, and it allowed us to avoid the early morning lines to get into the châteaux. It also allowed us to see areas that aren't so crowded with tourists. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Great way to get to cover the whole Versailles Palace and Gardens.
Such an awesome day!!! It is a trip that puts the whole of Versaille in perspective. The route was charming and not so difficult for a gal who hasn't ridden a bike in years! Our guide Nathan was fun and knowledgeable. The Hameau was fabulous and a spot you wouldn't see as a walk on tourist to the Chateau. The picnic lunch was brilliant and the goodies in the market and boulangerie made the day. As always the splendour of the interiors is overwhelming. It was a full day but so well worth it.
Super tour with an excellent guide Alan who kept us entertained all day
This was our favorite day in our week long trip to France! We had so much fun going to the market, biking through the gardens, picnicking along the water and learning about the history of Versailles. Our guide was great and everything was managed so well. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Paris.

My son and I really enjoyed this bike tour! Tommy, our french guide was great! Getting an hour to shop around the Versailles market for picnic food was fantastic. It was a lot of fun seeing the gardens and Tommy was very knowledgeable with the history of the palace and the past french royalty. It was one of our favorite days!
best way to get around the gardens of Versailles. one of my favorite parts of my trip to Paris. the bike tour guide was really great. his explanation of the history was told like a story and kept me interested.
the picnic lunch just topped it off. thanks for a great tour
This trip was super fun. Even though it was cold in Paris and Versailles, that didn't keep us from having a great time. Our tour guide Richard kept our group of twelve informed and entertained the entire time. The market in Versailles, had the most amazingly fresh and delicious food. It took everything in our will power to not buy too much - a suggestion for future groups is to divide and conquer, because we had way too much food. The grounds of Versailles were beautiful and vast. I truly got my work-out in that day and was ready to eat when we stopped for our picnic. Versailles was beautiful. It was definitely worth the trip.
Lovely day at Versailles! Tour guide Nick was interesting, informed, friendly, made us feel like we were hanging out with a friend for the day. Best picnic ever!
Wow, this tour was tiring, but worth it if you have an extra day in Paris. I would recommend seeing the inside of Versailles on another day because of how long this trip is, we were too tired to enjoy the palace, way too much for one day. The guide was great, it was all interesting, and I'm glad we went.
This is an all day fun trip if you enjoy bike riding. This is the only way to see the whole palace and experience how they lived. Excellent history background stories and beautiful picture perfect scenes at the Marie Antoinette's Garden!! My legs got tired at the end of the day but so worth it!!
OMG I just finished writing a really long review for this and then the site deleted it when it asked me to sign in ahhhhh! The main points - Valentine was the best guide I've ever had on any of these tours. Insanely knowledgable about everything and not in your face about it. He's so chill I never felt like I was in a classroom but walked away feeling like I knew every detail about the history of Versailles. The bikes were totally worth it - completely different experience than my first visit to Versailles as a teenager. Lastly, Versailles markets were incredible. Full markets operate only twice a week apparently and Friday is one of those days. That's when we luckily were there. AMAZING. Sorry, I cannot bring myself to re-write the whole review. I even tried the back button! This was my most anticipated tour going to Paris and it did not disappoint! Do it!!
Loved the bike ride around Versailles was the best part of the tour.
