This tour far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this tour to all friends and family. There is not one aspect that I can rave about but many, for example, the tour guide was well informed humorous, energetic, helpful n taking our photos and managed to pull us together as a group. The scenery, the market stop to buy food, the picnic, the time taken to ensure that we had enough time for questions and to absorb the information made it all worth while. Well done!
I would definitley recommend this trip to anyone able to ride a bicycle. Our guide, Johnny, made this trip informative and fun, especially for our four children (ages 10-17). Tours can often be dry and boring. Johnny made things very interesting. I prefered seeing the grounds more so than the palace. The self guided tour of the palace is a bit of a challenge, given the crowds and tiny hallways and doors to pass through. It was fun shopping in Versailles in the various markets for picnic items. Overall, a great trip thanks to Johnny!
We did this tour with Eva and it was unbelievable...she was so pleasant to have as a guide. Informative, detailed oriented and very knowledgeable of French history.. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone traveling to Paris/ Versailles.. Thanks Eva!
Our guide was Phil who is originally from the states but is now married to a French girl and has settled in France. He brought us to the versaille Palace, and gave us such a great history lesson on the palace, it's occupants (Marie Antoinette, and Louis the 14th, 15th and 16th). The bike ride was incredible, we stopped in the little town to purchase freshly made cheese, bread and meats for lunch along with wine or whatever to drink. ALso had some very good crepes. Phil was a fabulous guide and his sense of humor (along with Andre of another tour) made us laugh and have a really great time. The ride was great exercise, and mostly flat, and I noticed that Phi made a special effort to get to know each and every one of us on the tour, and speak to us individually at different points making everyone feel a special connection. We could not have asked for a better guide, quite honestly. He had a great deal of knowledge and he actually had a masters in Public History, and his intelligence was evident throughout the tour.
I cannot say enough good things about our guide or this wonderful bike tour. Versailles is absolutely beautiful - much more so than Paris. It is very clean, and has its share of historical buildings, and the people are polite and friendly. At the end of touring the grounds and after the picnic by the lake, we were escorted to the palace to view the inside. Unfortunately I was very ill and had to return to the hotel due to my medical conditions at that point so I did not see the inside, but I wish I had. I will forever have this great memory of the bike tour thanks to our guide and the wonderful tour - what a great experience!!!
Fun to do it with the whole family, partner or even alone. Nick was our tour guide, he is great, fun and make history very interesting and fun way to learn it. I will definitely recommend it to everyone.
Such a great way to experience Versailles! We did not have to do any thinking of our own, just enjoyed it all.
So glad we visited Versailles on bike. The bike ride in the gardens is beautiful and the commentary by our guide Steve was great! We had a lot of fun and the picnic was excellent. To be honest, after the bike ride, visiting the Chateaux with the throngs of spectators was almost disappointing after all the peace, quiet and beauty of the gardens . Do not miss this trip!
Fantastic trip, well worth spending an extra day in Paris to do this. I especially loved being able to actually tour the palace and gardens on our own then make our own way back to Paris (with train tickets and guidance provided). Spectacular place, a definite must-see, and always so fun by bike :). Tip: tour guide offers great discount for extra cycle tours.
Myself and my 2 children had the best day at Versailles. Johnny our guide connected with the children and made the history fun, along with the cycling. It was great to escape the heat of the city and the day was so varied it had something for us all...highly recommended!
Great experience! We saw beautiful, breath taking views that are not seen by the regular visitors, and the whole day was quite fun. Our tour guide especially was phenomenal, and contributed greatly to the experience. Highly recommended!!
This is a must tour for anyone who would want to explore Versailles Palace vicinity. Our tour guide - Pete did a very good job of explaining details surrounding the story about Versailles Palace, the Kings Louis XIV, XV, XVI Marie AntoInette etc. I went with my wife and 3 kids ages 17, 12 and 10 and everyone enjoyed this tour.
What a great way to see Versailles Dan was a terrific guide and gave us a great history of the place. The ride itself is not strenuous (but we sent my 70 yr. old mom on the bus tour) if you are in even modest shape. The grounds are beautiful and extensive. That keeps the crowds at the castle and makes this a leisurely ride with friends! Dan even gave us tips to navigate the market! Bring water if it is hot because there is none along the way!
This was a really fun adventure! We arrived a half hour late for our tour as we had gotten lost. We had all but written off our fees but a member of the tour office just whisked us off to meet up with the rest of the group so we were very relieved and thankful! We really enjoyed seeing the grounds of Versailles by bike and having our picnic lunch outside. In the afternoon we had some free time to wander around inside and it was pretty amazing to see all the grandeur and opulence of the interior rooms. Despite a little bit of rain, we had a great time. Our guide was really knowledgeable and lots of fun, too!
Loved, loved, loved this tour. The guide, Nick was so full of enthusiasm and knowledge and so helpful. The bike tour was easy, the bikes were comfortable and every thing just flowed. Going to the markets to get lunch was all in the fun of things a great experienc. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Did a few tours with Viator and they all went like a swiss clock.
