Well worth the extra cost - it really was a private tour. We had exclusive access to some areas of the palace away from the huge crowds.

This was an absolutely amazing tour. It was a very small group, so we were able to talk to the guides, and ask questions about things we saw, and the history of the palace and France. Talking to the guides, I felt as if I got to know the palace simply by being able to see things from their perspective. We had access to the roped off areas of the palace, and skipped all the queues. It really was a VIP experience that I would recommend to anybody who would like to do more than simply tick the "I went to Versailles" box on their itinerary. This tour offers depth, with style.

Well worth it to avoid the queues and get access to a part of the palace no one else did. Highly recommend it.

This is the way to see Versailles! We skipped the lines and went right in. We were meet by another guide who took us through the Palace. She was ver knowledgeable. We then had a few hours to wander around the gardens and have lunch. It was a chilly overcast day when we were there and Paris was just starting to get green so I can imagine the gardens would have been gorgeous a week or two later. Still a nice pleasant few hours walking around the gardens and seeing all of the fountains.

Loved the Palace of Versailles and the small group tour of the Palace was very enjoyable. Our main guide, Kevin, had not been to the gardens and could not provide any information about the musical water fountains. This was a disappointment because it took longer to figure out where to go and I missed some due to time restrictions.

Why in the world would we spend so much money for such a tour? We concluded that we were only going to Versailles once and we wanted to see as much as possible. Two things were working against us on the day we chose: there was a morning strike in the Palace; and it was periodically raining. It turned out that neither got in the way too much. Once we got into the building, our guide was so excellent that we forgot the delays. The public rooms were so crowded that we appreciated even more the private rooms not open to the public. We had time to see and experience those spaces. We could actually hear our guide and didn't have others stepping into our pictures and pushing us on. After other European palaces including Russian ones, Versailles seemed small. None of the smaller palaces on the grounds were open that day. Due to the weather we 'ran' through the gardens between raindrops (which were disappointing this early in the season) rather than taking a gracious stroll. We did have a wonderful quick lunch at the fine restaurant in the Palace. It was had to find, but worth the look...the pastries were a feast for the eye!

Excellent tour. Really felt like a VIP when we were shown into areas not available to the general public.

This was well worth the extra money - absolutely no queues and the guide was excellent. The downside was the early morning start then an hours wait in a Versaille coffee shop for no good reason. Also, the information are the Fountains was confusing so we missed the most of the Musical show.

The bus driver showed up, but the guide did not. We had difficulty figuring out where we were supposed to pick up the "tour." Once we got directed to the correct door and picked up the wonderful woman who actually provided the tour it was WELL worth it. The transition from bus to tour was very messy and frustrating.

Good trip however bus had no identification as advised it would so difficulty establishing it was our bus. Alexi (our Viator guide just new and learning the ropes). Advised to meet at Italian restaurant at the end but turned out there were two. Not clear instruction. Versailles guide replacement as designated guide didn't show was amazing. Worth doing but very expensive.

Tour at Versailles was wonderfull. Our tour guide form Viator did not make it to the bus that morning. We were left on our own to finde our guide at the palace. It worked out, but was not smooth.
