Excellent tour by Steph. She is a wonderful guide who provided detailed and impactful input on history and significance of Versailles. Would definitely highly recommend her to all future trip participants.
Fantastic and worth the money! Our guide, Stephanie, was fabulous. She kept us riveted to and from Paris with interesting stories and bits of history. We got to Versailles just barely ahead of the large tour groups and general mass of visitors and were able to see the Hall of Mirrors alone. You cannot imagine how crowded the Palace becomes in just 30 min of opening. It is cheek-cheek and everyone trying to take pictures. We toured the private apartments and the chapel in solitude. It was so peaceful and enjoyable. Gardens are toured on your own. They are expansive and beautiful. Lots of walking and stairs.
Our tour guide Steph (Stephanie) was fabulous! Steph made this one of the best tours I have ever been on. She is funny, quick witted and it's quite obvious she loves what she does. When they said private, they meant it! When I bypassed the extreme crowds from behind a velvet rope, I knew we booked the right tour. I would highly recommend this small group tour.
If you want to enjoy Versailles- look no further! This is so far the best tour we had during our trip. You get to go to the rooms and to various places where general public is not allowed to go and that means no crowds!! You will appreciate that a lot. Also, make sure to go to the gardens while the fountains are on, otherwise there is not much to see without fountains.
Not only was our Viator tour guide very well versed about Versailles our actual tour guide inside Versailles was awesome. Since we took the tour upgrade it was well worth seeing the Opera House, bed chambers and additional rooms upstairs. It was awesome. Diane
Excellent trip to miss the crowds at Versailles. Stephanie, who was our guide down and back, had fantastic historical knowledge delivered in an interesting and entaining way. The local guide at Versailles was also brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing areas which were not open to the public. Highly recommend.
Just one of the BEST tours! Viator is the only way to sightsee. On-time. Always.
I would strongly recommend this tour. It is the only way to see Versailles because it was so crowded and apparently always is.. A small group is the only way to go. i was very privileged in that I was a solo member of the tour and received very special info from Stephanie, who was the guide to and from Versailles, and Alex (I hope I have her name correct) who was such a very special person and so very well informed about the Palace, its occupants and history. Alex told me about items in the royal quarters in detail without dragging info out and made the tour that much more exciting. They were 2 very special guides at a place that I have always longed to see.
I will always be grateful to them and not forget them as historians and individual personalities. Versailles itself is unforgettable as well--a must for anyone interested in history,
An excellent VIP tour with a guide who was an engaging and outstanding communicator of the best of the highlights.
Our tour guide, Stephanie was amazing. She was knowledgeable, considerate and funny. The tour was worth every penny. We skipped the long lines and saw many rooms. We highly recommend this tour.
other than minor logistics at pick due to Tour de France, we highly recommend this tour and experience. We were spared long frustrating lines, it was exciting to view special rooms without the crowds. Excellent tour guides.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Palace of Verailies. It was especially valueable to have the VIP tour to skip all the lines at the beginning. Our guide and bus driver were very good. We took the tour on the day Tour de France was ending with many street closures and traffic jams. Our guide did a wonderful job of trying to accommodate everyone when we returned to Paris, the prime ending time of the Tour de France. We were taken right back to our hotel. Knowing this was taking place, I am surprised Viator booked excursions for this day. They had a difficult time contacting people on later excursions to change their meeting place. This would have been a dire circumstance for us since we did not carry a cell phone for future contact.
This tour was AWESOME! Stephanie (Viator tour coordinator) was wonderful as well as our Versailles tour guide (can't remember his name). ALOT to see - if you have the option and ability to take alternate transportation back to Paris so that you can stay to see everything, do it. We arrived shortly after 9:00 am and the tour van left at 1:30pm ... not quite enough to see everything. But, if you decide that you want to leave at 1:30, the tour still packs in enough to get a reallly good tour of the location and gardens. My only drawback, is for this amount of money, they really should pick you up at your hotel, like the less expensive Louvre tour did.
