2-Day Margaret River Wine Experience Tour from Perth

Mammoth Caves, Western Australia

Day 1: Perth to Margaret River (L)
After morning pickup at your central Perth hotel, relax on the scenic drive south, stopping at Busselton to stretch your legs and snap photos of the Southern Hemisphere’s longest wooden jetty. When you arrive in Margaret River, enjoy a bit of leisure time to explore the charming town on your own. Head to the Lake Cave Tearooms for a picnic lunch, and visit a local eco-center to learn about the area’s cavernous geology (time permitting). See the caves for yourself with a tour of the ancient Mammoth Cave limestone formations.

Continue on through Boranup Forest to arrive at Agusta, Australia’s most southwesterly point. See the spot where the Indian and Great Southern oceans converge and visit the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. Finally, it’s time for wine with your first tasting at a local winery in the afternoon.

Day 2: Margaret River to Perth (B, L)
Today is all about the taste buds! Spend a leisurely morning wine tasting at three or four different wineries. Chat with local wine experts to learn about the best varietals and vintages in Margaret River, which produces more than 25% of the premium wine in Australia. Savor a gourmet café-style lunch, and then continue your tasting tour in the afternoon with stops at a local cheese and chocolate factory. If there’s time, you’ll also pop in at a boutique brewery for a sampling of craft cider and ale.

Continue your culinary tour with a visit to a family-run venison farm, where you’ll learn about sustainable meat raising in Margaret River. Stop for dinner at a local eatery on the ride back to Perth (own expense). Your tour concludes with hotel drop-off in the evening.

Have done it before but had 3 friends with me who had never been to Perth. We all had a great time, driver was very interesting & hotel good. Was not impressed with Zanado winery, there are much better wineries in the Margaret River. Rest of the trip was excellent.
