We break for a picnic lunch at Red Gum Pass before continuing to enjoy the mountains as we pass by the Porongurup Range, arriving in the historic port of Albany this afternoon, which was Western Australia's first European settlement. We make a visit to an elevated vantage point, Mount Clarence, to enjoy panoramic views over Albany and the King George Sound waterway below.

We then travel via Denmark through spectacular karri tree forests to the coastal resort town of Walpole. Here we join our local guide Gary for a luncheon cruise on Nornalup Inlet, widely regarded as one of the last great wilderness areas. Gary will delight all with his incredible knowledge and love of this area. Next stop is the Valley of the Giants "Tree Top Walk" which reaches 40 meters high into the forest canopy. A ground level walk is available through the Ancient Empire, a remarkable pocket of Tingle Forest, wide girth trees up to 5 meters wide. Then it's on to our overnight accommodation in Pemberton.

Day 3: Pemberton / Margaret River
The day begins with a visit to the Gloucester Tree, one of three towering trees in the district once used as a bush fire watchtower. Those feeling like some morning exercise can attempt the climb to the wooden watch cabin near the top of the 61 meter tall tree. The district is renowned for woodwork and we now visit the Fine Wood Craft Gallery, Western Australia's most awarded regional gallery, for a browse through some of the exquisite artworks of local craftspeople. After a morning tea break at scenic Beedalup Falls, we leave the forest behind us we make our way to Australia's most southwesterly point, the coastal town of Augusta. Break for lunch before heading to Cape Leeuwin, which overlooks the geographical point of significance, where the Indian and Great Southern Oceans meet.
We are now entering the Margaret River Wine region and this afternoon and tomorrow, we enjoy traveling along sections of Caves road, the main scenic touring route of the area. The road is lined with wonderful views of rolling farmlands, pockets of forest and further north, vineyards. Massive surf has long been a major draw card of the area and we make an afternoon stop at Surfers Point, where international surf competitions are held and we can take in wonderful views of the pristine coastline. If the swell is up, we may even enjoy the spectacular sight of local surfers taking on the ocean. Moving on, we head to the Township of Margaret River for our overnight stay. From here you can walk the main street, which is lined with shops featuring works of the local craftspeople.

This morning we have another encounter with nature at Eagles Heritage 'Raptor Wildlife Centre'. We then experience another treasure of the area, Mammoth Cave, which is one of over 300 natural underground crystal caves of the district. Take a guided tour, which provides a fascinating insight into the creation of these pristine formations.
We now have the chance to sample some of the renowned Margaret River wine, with a visit to Xanadu winery for a tasting and chance to purchase from their extensive cellar. From here we break for a picnic lunch and lively demonstration at the Yallingup Shearing Shed. Owned by one of the founding farming families of the district, we are entertained by their traditions of authentic Australian sheep dogs and sheep shearing.
