Rottnest Island
Set off from Perth in the morning, and begin your day trip to Rottnest Island by cruising down the Swan River toward the port town of Fremantle. Enjoy morning tea as you pass by local landmarks and the majestic houses of Millionaire’s Row. After a quick stop to collect passengers in Fremantle, it’s a short hop across the ocean to Rottnest.
Affectionately known as Rotto, the island has a relaxed atmosphere, pristine beaches and great snorkeling, diving and surfing, making it a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.
Get acquainted with the town settlement area on a guided walking tour. Discover the interesting history of the island from shipwrecks and early settlers to ghosts and penal colonies. The rest of your day is free to explore the island before the ferry departs for the mainland later in the afternoon.
Grab a bike and head to the lookout points or one of the island’s many beaches for a swim and snorkel among the reefs. With wide-open roads and no cars, the island provides easy and fun cycling. Experience the remote beauty of the island as you cycle past friendly quokkas (the island’s cute resident marsupials) and local birds.
Finish the day with a wine tasting on board the boat as you make your way up the Swan River and back to Perth.
