Nice ride with beautiful scenery. The trip was listed on viaror as starting at 10 but it doesnt until 11. Web site needs to be changed.. we sat in the domed car and it is definitely worth it.
Purchase was easy, trip was great and enjoyable. I didn't realize our seats were combined at a table with 2 strangers,, would have liked more privacy, but they were nice and after the Parkdale layover, folks moved around in the train and we gained more space. I miss Roman, he really added to the experience. Also, I recall 2 stopovers and there was only one this time. I would take this trip again. Hood River is fun to explore post train ride and the station is easy walking distance to town.
A delightful trip through the valleys of ready to harvest pears, forests, and just plain beautiful scenery on a real train. We rode the dome car and had a delicious lunch, served by outstanding young ladies Big bravos to them!
Beautiful scenery, well narrated, in absolute comfort. The food was good, the wine excellent. We thouroughly enjoyed our wonderfully slow trip though the valley.
Great ride and the service was great.
We thought Parksdale could have better signage. We had trouble finding the Ice Cream shop.
I am so happy with the tour food good service excellent. Gift shop at parkville has alot to be desired wish I could have bought some pears
A wonderful way to be surrounded by beauty. A perfect way to spend four hours.
We were expecting to go to Mt Hood, instead we stop in Parkland, we were very dissapointed, 12 miles from the Mountian is bad advertisement. You need to change that to Parkland, with Mt Hood view. Everything else was great, food was good. wait staff was very good. Ice cream shop in Parkland was very good, to bad it wasn't at Mt Hood. :
enjoyed the tour ,the websitesaid tour started at 10 am when actually started at 11 am
We enjoyed the trip and the view. I was disappointed that we were so far from Mt Hood. thank you!
Loved it! Lots of history shared by the tour operator. Great way to relax and see the country side with all its fruit orchards and vineyards... and exqusite views of Mt. Hood!
One suggestion; Upper floor train windows could use some cleaning.
Our group of 4 went First Class. We paid for our tickets and expected to have reservations ready.
After waiting in a long line....the clerk said that Viator was new with their ticket sales and we didn't have reservations. : (
My heart dropped, but apparently there was still seats available for our group. : ) We had to pay for parking, as well. Everyone with or without a tickets stayed in the same line. Guess buying tickets ahead of time secured your seat, at least you hope so!!! First Class was worth the A/C...for sure, ride was a bit rocky at times for one person with motion sickness, but the view thru the rural area was pleasant. Lots of pear orchards and farming. We had a nice lunch at the 1/2 way point @ a local cafe. And then returned back to the station. The train was clean, met a few couples on the trip that shared stories. Oh.... Mt Hood was always in the back ground topped with snow and Hood River was just there! The train ride was a change of pace, as the day before we had been on our feet for about 10 hours.
Part of the trip was good but the arrival at Parkdale was not very good, not much to see or do there. We also thought we would be closer to viewing Mt Hood.
Service on the train was very good.
It was a very long trip. Very difficult to see much since it is like driving through a tunnel of trees for 80% of the time. The other 20% was very nice though. Good and comfortable sightseeing cars.
The trip was boring for many reasons:
First the train was very slow 4 and a half hours trip and the view was not impressive as we thought.
Second the only stop had nothing to see or to excite about.
Third the train was not maintained and you can not see through the glass
I suggest that to include more stops to walk inside the fruits farms and use a faster train
Tour up the mountain was great. Parkdale was extremely tiny and the view of the mountain was not as good as I had hoped. I would not take this tour again.
