What You Can Expect
You’ll then visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum, where you and your guide will browse historical exhibits offering interesting information about the region’s many shipwrecks, lighthouses, early European exploration, commercial fishing and the Coast Guard.
You’ll also see different kinds of vessels, both life-size and models, indoors and out on the actual Columbia River, the major river of the Northwest that has been an important route for transportation and commerce.
Afterward, enjoy free time for lunch in Astoria (own expense) before driving south along the coast to Cannon Beach, where you’ll see Haystack Rock, a designated marine sanctuary full of tide pools. Enjoy more free time here to shop, walk along the beach, and explore the shops and art galleries that fill this vibrant, charming town.
On our return, you’ll stop at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that offers a glimpse into the history of Oregon’s important timber industry. You’ll be dropped off at your Portland hotel in the evening.
We had a party of four in our group and we all enjoyed the beautiful views. The driver of our van was very knowledgeable and friendly. We all enjoyed the tour very much.
It was such a great day trip! Jamie, our guide, was very passionate about the region and knew a lot. She was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it if you're looking to get a good sampling of the coast. You will probably find, though, that you'll want to come back for a few days or longer because it's such a beautiful place!
excellent tour guide, local company fantastic.
The perfect amount of time for a day excursion and our guide was wonderful -- charming, knowledgeable and friendly.
The tour guide went out of her way to show us beautiful and interesting places.
Our tour guide, Ron Davies, was great!! He is really kind and gave our group so much information about the history and nature, how people live and took us to a very good place to eat! There was no time when Ron didn't know something about our surroundings, he knew so much and it never got boring!!! Also our group was a perfect size of seven people - which was great! I am so glad I came! I really recommend this tour! Thanks so much!!!
This tour is definitely worth the money! We were picked up on time at our hotel by Ron, our tour guide. Very pleasant, friendly and knowledgable about everything relating to this state and the areas he took us to. The van was comfortable and clean and he had a complimentary bottle of water for all of us.
The trip there was long but beautiful scenery. The coast was breathtaking! Magnificent views from the peaks and the shoreline! Definitely a photographers dream for some stunning keepsakes.

This was a really beautiful tour. Our guide Sergio was so full of information and did a wonderful job. I highly recommend this tour . Thank you for everything!
My sister and I had an excellent tour with our guide, Ron. He was eloquent and knowledgeable and gave us tons of information about the beautiful places we saw. We are so glad we took this tour!
I really enjoyed this tour! I loved that it was a small group in a comfortable mini-van, and the tour destinations were fascinating. My only complaint was that I felt SO rushed at each stop. We only had 15 minutes at Echoa State Park, 15 minutes at the Astoria Column, and 30 minutes to tour the Maritime Museum! I think if the tour was extended just ONE HOUR, it would allow for more time to enjoy the destinations, rather than feeling rushed to take pictures of everything and appreciate the locales after the fact. My tour guide (I can't remember his name) was fantastic, very patient, humorous, and informative. I would DEFINITELY recommend this tour to others, and I'm inclined to try other Viator tours in the future. Thanks!
