Great tour and our guide Alex great explain very well I recommand!!!!
The day trip was great. The guide Pedro was very good. Great drive through the valley with a first class lunch. Visiting the smaller wineries was very interesting. Thanks Pedro for a super day!
Excellent and in-depth tour guide for the background information of this region
Thoroughly recommend this tour. The area is so beautiful. Small group and guide was lovely. Lunch was amazing and the wine/port tastings at small family estates were very generous. Boat ride was so relaxing. If your up north of Portugal, you must see the Duoro valley- very unique and stunning.
Had a wonderful trip to the Douro Valley! Enjoyed the day with a breathtaking drive to the valley, tasting different port wines and olive oil, visiting small quaint villages, a relaxing boat ride on the river with gorgeous views and a fabulous lunch in a small family run restaurant the sardines and beef were mouth watering along with the wine. The trip was all the more enjoyable because of our tour guide PEDRO RODRIGUES!! He is very knowledgeable about the area, funny, helpful, considerate, took excellent care of us, giving us more than enough time to enjoy at a leisurely pace - in short an excellent human being! THANKS PEDRO!
Beautiful day, very informative and Alex was a wonderful tour guide.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was very well organised from the hotel pick up to the air conditioned bus to the wine/port tasting and vineyard tour. The tour guide was well informed and the demonstration was incredibly detailed. We would recommend this tour to anyone.
Personally I think that this was the best of 5 tours that we did. Our guide Alex was great, good English, very knowledgeable about the region , wines and Port, apart from being a nice gentleman. The scenery is fantastic..the wine tasting was good, but the Port tasting was the cherry on the cake. To add to it, there happened to be an English customer/buyer obviously very knowledgeable about ports who gave us a mini lecture apart from the fact, that we got an extra tasting of the estate owners Port reserve ...what an aroma..what a taste...Since wines do not travel well on planes we did not buy any, Tks to Alex but we learnt that Ruby port does: so we bought 2 Ruby Reserve bottles. Having opened one bottle today I can assure that it does travel well..!,yum
Really great tour. Loved that we were shown smaller wineries. Very knowledgable guide. Stunning scenery.
The whole tour was excellent. Both Susana and Pedro were fun and informative guides. I would go on the tour again if I went back and would recommend it to anyone.
An excellent experience, well worth the cost and then some. Though the drive from Porto to Duoro is lengthy and windy, our guide Pedro was willing to keep us entertained with his wealth of knowledge on the region, wine, and Portugal itself. The small groups kept the experience intimate, which was aided by the visits including smaller estates with a personal touch. Everything was delicious and the river cruise was beautiful. It was technically a long day, but it didn't feel like it at all and I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
We had a wonderful day in the Douro Valley! Our guide Alex had many interesting things to tell, as he's a local and took us to 2 family run vinyards which was a nice break from all the big cooperations we've seen so far. The trip on the boat was lovely in the afternoon.
I'd highly recommend this tour, as it's excellent value for money.
This was a wonderful experience. The driver/guide Pedro was knowledgeable, engaging and funny. The visits to the winery and olive oil plant fascinating. The company of the other travelers enjoyable. We seldom take guided tours but this one was worth it--saw much more than we would have on our own with a lot less driving up and down steep and strange roads. I recommend this tour highly. --Steve Roberts
We took the tour in July and have to say it's a must do! We booked tour for 6 of us and we all had a great time. Our tour guide pedro was first class and very acknowlegable and informative. Douro valley is stunning and we all got some amazing photos. You get to try plenty of wines and ports and the lunch was fantastic.
I would highly recommend this tour. However only warning would be that there is a lot of windy and hilly roads so not great if you suffer from car sickness!
My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience on the Duoro Valley tour. The port wine, the olive oil, the scenery, and of course the people made it all worth while. Our guides, Pedro and Susana, were passionate, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. We learned, we laughed, and we drank great wine from local, family-run, wineries. We'd recommend this tour to anyone looking to learn more about the beautiful Duoro Valley, drink good port, and meet some great people.
Alex was a great tour guide! He knew so much about the valley and the wines. He kept everything fun and overall gave everyone a once in a lifetime experience. The vineyard we visited was also so amazing. The stories they told and the tasting we had were superb
Jose was definitely the highlight of this tour. His enthusiasm and knowledge about Porto and the Douro Valley were highly appreciated. Throughout the drive to and from Douro, he kept us engaged and taught me a lot I didn't know about the history of Porto. Both the wine and port tastings were delicious - small group allowed for more conversation which we liked. Would recommend to anyone visiting the region!
The tour was great! Out tour guide Joanna was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The wineries, lunch and boat tour were all superb. What a great way to enjoy this amazing area of the world.
This is a great tour. Barbara is a friendly, fun and informative guide. My sister and I really enjoyed everything about this day, the vineyards we went to were both small and family run and we were made to feel really welcome by the friendly owners.
From the moment that we were picked up at our hotel by our guide, Peter, we knew that we had chosen the right tour. Peter was knowledgable and friendly. We were just three couple on the tour -- two couple from Great Britain and we two Americans. None of us knew the others, but everyone was very friendly. As advertised, the ride to the Douro Valley took 1.5 hours, but it truly flew by. The scenery was beautiful and we began to see vineyards almost immediately. Our first stop when we reached the Douro Valley at an overlook for a breathtaking view of the river and terraced vineyards next, a brief stop for coffee and pastries then on to the first of two family-owned wineries that produced extra virgin olive oil as well. We learned about the oil pressing process while touring the winery's olive oil museum. Then we tasted the olive oil and some delightful wines. Next, it was on to a delicious, authentic Portuguese lunch with wine at a picturesque restaurant overlooking the river. Peter dined with our group and continued to offer entertaining stories of the region. Following lunch, it was time for the optional riverboat cruise. Our entire group had elected this option and Peter accompanied us on the cruise. Our last stop was at a family winery that was established in 1864 and being run by the fourth generation, with two more generations in line behind them! We were led on a tour of the winery by a member of the family and learned about the process of producing Port wine to the exacting standards and regulations of the Port Wine Institute of Portugal -- and the dedication of the Carvalho family. We felt like honored guests of the family as we were led into the tasting room and had the privilege of tasting their award-winning port wines. Our day ended with the trip back to Porto and drop-off's in town or at our hotels. From beginning to end Peter and the local tour operator went above and beyond to make the day memorable!
Alex was very welcoming, very knowledgeable and entertaining too! Everything was fantastic and enjoyable.
Really enjoyed the day, our guide Barbara was lovely and we all had a fun day. We were having so much fun we stayed out longer than scheduled. particularly enjoyed going to the small family businesses along the way. It was better than I had expected. Thanks Barbara
