We had a wonderful tour. Our guide, Pedro, was very knowledgeable and excellent at answering questions. We visited small, private vineyards and tasted fabulous olive oil and honey (along with the Port). We would highly recommend this tour, the scenery alone was well worth the price!
This was an absolute highlight of our trip to Portugal! My boyfriend and I had a great day, our guide was friendly and fun, and everything exceeded our expectations--the boat ride, wine tasting, delicious lunch, and the hospitality we received along every step of the journey was fabulous. Plus, it's a great bargain!
The weather wasn't perfect, it was rainy, windy day, but everything else was great. We were picked up from our hotel, our guides were energetic and entartaining and they had a lot of storries about Porto wines, Porto region and Portugal history and winemaking. The valley is beautifull, if you like nature and/or you are a wine geek then it's going to be memorable experience. It definitely worth visiting in a guided tour, great job Piedro and Barbara (sorry, I'm not sure how to spell your names)
It was absolutely breath taking and our guide Pedro was awesome. If you have the time do not miss the great tour into the Douro Valley.
Very nice guide, dinner was awesome and small group are very nice to visit.
The full day Duoro Valley wine tour with cruise with Pedro Rodrigues was excellent. Apart from visiting such a beautiful part of the world, we got to taste delicious olive oil and honey, eat a yummy traditional Portuguese lunch and, of course, drank the best port ever. Not to much a cruise down the stunning Duoro river. Pedro has so much knowledge and definitely knew his stuff and was so entertaining and fun. Because of him, this day was the highlight of my stay in Porto. Thanks Pedro!
Best tour we have ever taken! Our tour operator was extremely knowledgeable and did everything to ensure we enjoyed our experience. The wineries, restaurant and river trip were well worth the trip from Porto. The smaller wineries we visited gave us the royal treatment including taking us through the process of making port.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
We took the Douro Valley tour two weeks ago with 6 others. Our guide Barbara was fun, energetic and knowledgeable. Being picked up and returned to just outside our rental apartment was a real plus. The visits to the olive oil, honey and wine maker were a treat as was the sumptuous afternoon dinner with the opportunity to try many different typical Portuguese foods. It was some of the best we had our whole trip. We highly recommend the optional boat ride as well. The porto tasting was very enjoyable. We highly recommend this trip.
So much fun! Even in the rain we had a great time. Learned a lot about the region, had some amazing olive oil and port, a terrific lunch with our bus full of new friends, and just generally enjoyed the amazing scenery. Our tour-guide was absolutely lovely! It is a full day though, so wear comfortable travel clothes/shoes.
We had a great day in the Duoro Valley. The wineries were small scale, excellent wine and vintners that enjoyed showing us their methods passed on for generations. Well worth it. Highly recommended.
Tour guide -Babara is very knowledgable and funny. Really nice to have her as our guide. The group is very small and very personal. The lunch serving is fantastic and the wine tasting is marvelous. Very generous with their wine tasting and lots of finger food being served. Really worth for dollars.
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide, Piedro, was very personable as well as knowledgeable. He took us to very special places for the tastings and for the lunch -- smaller, family-owned establishments where the owners shared with us their passion for growing grapes, olives, honey in the beautiful Douro Valley -- turning them into very high-quality products as their parents and grand-parents did before them. The river cruise also gave us a wonderful perspective on the Douro Valley landscape, with its carefully tended terraced hillsides. The small-group concept works very well and by the end of the day we felt like one big happy family.
The tour was excellent helped along by an extremely good guide who not only knew Portuguese history but also knew a lot about wine and Port. The tour was well planned and the food at lunch was authentic Portuguese country cooking. My wife and I enjoyed the tour of the small wineries and the private Port, olive oil and table wine tastings. This was accompanied by Pedro's (our guide) very knowledgeable commentary on the steps involved in olive oil and port production with a rundown of the various types of Port, port houses and port history. We highly recommend the local tour Company and our guide Pedro.
The tour was great! We really had a good time! The tour guide (Jose) was amazing. He told us lots of interesting things during the tour.He was full of energy and he looks like he is enjoying what he is doing which makes the whole tour very enjoyable. The boat ride was nice and the lunch was super!
Great tour! Made even more enjoyable thanks to Pedro, a very knowledgeable, pleasant and careful driver. He made the tour even more special. We enjoyed being part of a small group - more pleasant than being herded like a flock of sheep as is the case with many coach trips. The two visits to oil/port small producers were very interesting and we enjoyed the port tasting. Despite the rain the 1 h boat trip on the Douro was very pleasant. As for the lunch in Pinhao we were served dish after dish of excellent Portuguese food. We thoroughly recommend this trip, we certainly enjoyed it!
