Cesky Krumlov Day Trip from Prague

View of Cesky Kromlov from River

The town's fairytale red-roofed castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens, and features grand courtyards, halls and furnishings. The castle's development over the 14th to 19th centuries has been well preserved, both in layout and architectural detail. The mighty castle complex stands on a rock promontory sculpted by the Vltava River, dominating the attractive medieval town below.

Together with the magnificent Church of St. Vitus, the castle is a unique feature of the entire region. The town of Cesky Krumlov is situated in a valley surrounded by the Blansko Forest to the north and the undulating foothills of Sumava to the south and west.

Overall a great day trip from Vienna. We had enough free time that we could explore the town on our own pace so that was a big plus. The tour guide was nice and friendly, though the group went up the heavy hill so fast at the beginning of the tour that we almost lost them...

This was a beautiful trip! We stayed at the KK Central hotel in Prague which was like a three minute walk to our meeting point. Once there, we waited a few minutes to load everyone onto the bus. The trip down takes around 2.5 hours on a motorcoach with a bathroom break in between. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and he gave us some history about the Czech culture on the way there and back. Once there the tour guide gave a small walking tour and then you are given about an hour and a half for lunch and to explore the city. Then we meet again and we all went to the castle for an inside tour. The guide that gave us the tour inside the castle was very difficult to understand and also another group joined us so we where a little crammed. I wish it would have been a little smaller group which would have allowed for questions and I think we could of heard her a little better. Once that was over we boarded our motorcoach again and where brought back to the place of origin. I would definitely go back there again and I do recommend this trip if you don't have a lot of time to spend there a few days. Otherwise I would suggest going to Cesky Krumlov and staying there a few days to explore and take a lot of pictures. It's an amazing picturesque little town!
