What You Can Expect
As you travel, listen as your guide talks about Czech crystal, formerly known as Bohemian crystal. This traditional crystal is cut into everything from decorative glass vases and champagne flutes to ornaments, and is a popular fixture in Czech homes. Tradition has it that the crystal brings peace and warmth, and that gazing through it can boost people’s concentration.
After roughly an hour, arrive at the Bohemia glass factory in the town of Nizbor on the Berounka River. Hear how the riverside glassworks has been turning out fine, leaded Czech crystal since 1903 using time-honored techniques.
Head inside and take a fascinating guided tour. Visit the melting furnaces to watch the skilled craftspeople in action: blowing and bending the hot, molten glass into an array of graceful shapes.
Continue to the cutting workshops to see the glass being shaped, hand-cut and hand-painted into the finished article — shimmering, delicately carved crystal glasses, dishes, ornaments and more.
Afterward, admire the exquisite pieces on sale in the showroom for factory prices, and take advantage of the discounts to buy some items as mementos.
Later, return to Prague, where your tour finishes.
Really enjoyed it
traveling United States of ...
The trip was great we were a nice small group of only 4 people. The factory was really interesting as well. The only thing that could have made this better was to maybe stop for lunch on the way back into Praha. You can get gelato at the Factory but otherwise the options are just a few snack food items there. I would definitely recommended this tour though and have actually already done so. Thanks for the great memories! PS Prices there were awesome I spent a decent amount and ton way more then I expected to!!!!
My wife and I had the luxury of being the only two individuals on this tour. Our guide was a wonderful gentleman who was retired. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us many helpful tips about Prague, places to eat, and shop. The Glass Factory tour was informative, but most importantly, shopping in the factory's shop was worth the trip. We bought many wonderful items at reasonable prices.
There were only a few of us on this tour - it was quite interesting and quick - if you're looking for a quick tour this is it.
The tour guide was friendly as well.
Great tour! Exelent guide!
Enjoyed this factory trip to Nizbor Bohemia Glass factory. To see the employees with their skill was terrific. Good prices if you decide to buy something.
I enjoyed the visit. Only criticism was that the initial communication was vague about hotel pick up but that was resolved after a short email exchange.
Very good. Short but full of information. I was able to go inside the factory and see first hand all the step of glass making
This was most interesting of all our trips
The factory guide was most informative and instructive as to each operation within the plant
She also gave us information as to the life style of workers
