I hope this review sticks this time. I've tried to post it twice before but for some reason it didn't take. We toured Prague Castle on the 3 1/2-hour walking tour in August, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Our guide, Sarah, was a fount of knowledge about the castle buildings and events that happened there, and brought the old church and other buildings to life. For me perhaps the most fascinating part of the tour was her brief history of the Czech Republic, which she gave before we began the tour, simply to give us some context about her country's place in history. I'm a bit of a history buff, particularly about WWII and the subsequent Soviet occupation of eastern Europe which Sarah rightly said should be called central Europe, thus explaining why it has been invaded and taken over so frequently throughout the centuries. It was so interesting to hear her factual yet passionate recital of how things went from one who lived under the communist regime and through the Velvet Revolution. There were 3 Spanish-speakers in our fairly large English-language tour group, and I feared a lot of time would be lost since Sarah had to give the information in two languages. However, she was masterful at managing the group, giving time to explore and take pictures to the English speakers while she spoke to the Spanish-speakers and vice versa. There was never a lull and I give her high marks for handling that situation so beautifully. We felt that this tour was the high point of our short stay in Prague, and highly recommend it to anyone. And if you get Sarah as your guide, you win the jackpot!
The kiosk and bus were easy to find in town and the bus dropped us off inside the castle. Helen was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all our questions along the way. She also gave us good directions for walking back to Old Towne on the Charles Bridge. Just wear comfortable walking shoes as the cobble stones on the sidewalks and streets can wear you down!
Very knowledgeable guide. Small group of only 9 people made for a very enjoyable experience as we were able to hear our guide and get to know the other folks on the tour . Guide provided just the right amount of information. Excellent experience!
Excellent! Very knowledgeable, energetic guide with a LOT of interesting things to say! He just talked a little too fast in his excitement in wanting to educate us.
Really great tour, with a very knowledgable and friendly guide. Highly recommend
The Prague castle is a beautiful example of the opulance of the era of kings.Guide was especially informative.
Such a great tour! Our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. We learned a so much!! Even though it was busy at the castle, he kept us all together well, kept the tour interesting and well-paced. I did this with my pre-teen son and he thought it was great too.
It was an amazing tour, our guide was very knowledgeable. We toured several cities, Prague was our favorite....
This is such an amazing tour. Petra, our guide, was wonderful. There were only five of us in our group and two spoke German. Petra interpreted in both English and German and didn't miss a beat. I don't know how she did it but throughout the entire tour she gave us complete information and told us things we would never have known had we tried to do this on our own. Prague is such a beautiful city. We loved this tour and would do it again. Don't miss this tour. It is absolutely incredible.
Excellent tour. Do not miss. MIchelle was a fantastic guide and answered all of our numerous questions. We usually prefer audio guide tours but due to the huge number of items to see, this tour is a great option. Michelle was by far our best tour guide ever.
Wonderful learning experience. Wear comfortable shoes and agree to any suggestions the cook suggests when eating at a local restaurant. Fresh grilled fish was memorable.
Great tour. Well worth booking. A very passionate and informative guide (Anna).
A wonderful trip back to the medieval ages. Walking through the castle walls was an extravagant feeling!
This trip was made a 5 star by the tour guide. We were the only people on the tour. She was a tentative and knowledgeable. The tour of the castle was splendid and because of the guide we learnt a lot. We couldn't have asked for a more spectacular day both in tour and weather.
Fantastic tour with Sarah who was highly knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Tour was great as there were only 5 of us on it (3 x English speaking people and 2x Italian speaking people) which allowed us to take plenty of photos. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Prague (even if it is just for a day).
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our Prague Castle Walking Tour. Our guide, Helen, was very knowledgeable about the sights and helped us understand the history of Prague and how the Castle and the surrounding area fit into the context of that history. It was nice to see the Changing of the Guard. Our group had less than 10 people and was conducted in English.
Our guide was excellent. He gave the tour in Spanish and English. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. We would highly recommend this tour.
United States of ...
The guided walking tour of 3 hours was outstanding. Since it is all inclusive and the guide takes us through us the entire Prague castle complex, we do not miss anything. All other attractions can be visited by any tourist but the Prague Castle Dt visit is different. This in our opinion is the best of all Castle visits. The tour guide was really very nice, competent and professional answered all the questions. We visited all other attractions on the first day ourselves and booked this exclusive tour on the second day. The exchange of the voucher was swift and easy. Would highly recommend this instead of other walking tours or self guided tours.
Good tour but be warned. You have to find your own way back to your hotel as the tour doesn't return you to the starting point.
I was a single traveler and this was a great tour. It is a lot of walking so wear sneakers and bring snacks as it can be very long. The only down fall is that the 1 tour guide did the tour in 3 different languages, English, Italian, and French. So, basically we were at each site 3 times as long as if we would have just had an English tour. I didn't realize that at the time of booking, when it just specified that the tour would be in English. So, that is the main reason it was so long and over the 'scheduled' time. You do get to see a lot, but I would recommend trying to go at a time when there are less crowds as some of the areas were extremely packed.
