What You Can Expect

Small-Group Prague Walking Tour: Old Town, Wenceslas Square and Jewish Quarter

Small-Group Prague City Walk

Begin your small-group walking tour at a meeting point in central Prague. Meet your guide, and set out to explore the Czech Republic’s capital, with its rich 1,000-year-old history.

Start with a stroll through the atmospheric Old Town. Along the way, hear intriguing nuggets about Prague’s past, including the triumphs and tragedies that have shaped the city’s destiny through the ages.

See the Bethlehem Chapel where Czech national hero Jan Hus preached in the 1400s, and pass other historical landmarks as you wend your way to Wenceslas Square, one of Prague’s best-known squares.

View the bustling square and hear how it presided over two of the country’s watershed events in the 20th century — the 1968 Prague Spring and the 1989 Velvet Revolution against Soviet rule. See the statue of King Wenceslas that acted as a rallying point for protestors, and learn about the Czechs who fought, and died, for their country’s freedom.

Continue past the Estates Theatre, where Mozart dazzled opera-goers in 1787 when he conducted the premiere of Don Giovanni, and see Charles University — one of Europe’s oldest universities, having been established in 1348.

Spill into the Old Town Square to see its pastel-colored houses, churches and Astronomical Clock, and refuel with a drink (own expense) before heading for the Jewish Quarter.

Learn about Prague’s long and rich Jewish heritage as you explore, and pause to view the Old Jewish Cemetery and Old New Synagogue, Europe’s oldest working synagogue.

Finish with stellar views of two of Prague’s iconic sights. Stroll to the Vltava River and gaze out at mighty Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge — a vision of stone statues and graceful arches.

Your tour concludes in central Prague.

Honza was a great tour guide. He gave us a real insite to Prague having grown up there and since this ended up being a private tour we really got some extra time to explore.

It was our first tour in Prague. My wife and I and the guide. Three persons, and the guide was excellent. He gave as much attention to us two as if he was being paid for a big group. Very experienced and thorough in his conversation and great rapport . What he showed us , we highly recommend.

I learned a lot of background information that would have escaped me had I just wandered about without a guide. It covers a great area without feeling like you've been walking forever.

This was a great tour, provided by a young and passionate guide (Mike), in a perfect English. The group was small (7), the pace well balanced, and the information provided complete and interesting , integrated by material displayed on a tablet.
