What You Can Expect
Tear your eyes away from the scenery and feast them instead on your gourmet breakfast, served by your on-board host. Consisting of continental breads, cereal, a hot drink and fruit juice, the meal is sure to set you up perfectly for the day ahead!
The picture-perfect town of Baie-Saint-Paul is roughly two hours away from Quebec City, and once here you’ll have three hours to spend at leisure, doing just as you please. The station is a short walk from the town's top attractions and sites, so take a stroll into the center to discover its delights. Perhaps take a wander along Rue-St-Jean-Baptiste, the main street, to browse its quirky art galleries, boutique shops and candy stores. All entrance fees and activities in the town are at your own expense.
Return to Baie-Saint-Paul Station at the pre-arranged time, and then board your train for the journey to Quebec City. As you trace the same route back along the banks of St Lawrence River, your host will serve an artistically arranged plate of tapas for you to eat as you ride! Nibble on freshly baked breads, olives and cured meats --from Fairmont Le Manoir Richelou Hotel -- and then arrive back into Parc de la Chute-Montmorency Station in the late afternoon. We were so glad that we took this trip. As we were doing a big road trip, it was great to see and experience so many great things associated with a waterside ride along such a vast river as the St Lawrence, without having to drive - other than having to get to the station, which did prove more difficult than we expected ! The staff on the train were superb - not only serving food and drinks, but also stopping to spend time to talk to passengers to add to the enjoyment of the experience - the ambience and food most enjoyable, and the extra touches - such as individual tablets at each table providing information about the places we passed through, and the food and drink menus, mood lighting, tasteful background music - all provided a totally relaxing trip. The stop at Baie-Saint-Paul was plenty long enough to sample the delights of this pretty little town. We would certainly recommend the trip to anyone visiting the area with a day to spare, and, should we be lucky to find ourselves in Quebec again, we would definitely repeat the journey.
Loved it! Very relaxing way to see the St. Lawrence Seaway; food and service on the train was good as well. Had enough time to adequately tour Baie Saint Paul as well.
