Tim was our guide and he was exceptionally good at what he does. His knowledge of the tour and NZ in general was appreciated. The tour itself was a lot of driving, but we did not have a lot of time, so it was perfect for us. We stopped along the way and took photos. Tim even had tea and cookies for us in a heavily wooded area -- we felt like we were in the movie! He also had costumes and props for us to try on...that was probably my daughter's favorite part!
Wonderful tour and knowledgeable tour guide. Beautiful scenery and interesting locations. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun afternoon.
Fantastic. Our guide, Paul, was very knowledgable and accommodating. Happy to stop at particular points for us to take photos, providing lots of information about the filming of the movie, matching the sites we were seeing with film locations and showing us pictures in his well thumbed book so we could visualise exactly where the action was filmed from where we were standing. Two teenage Lord of the Ring fans were thoroughly impressed, as were two mums who enjoyed the scenery and other tidbits of information offered about the history of the local area. Thanks Paul!
Huge thanks to Nomad Safaris who hosted us on this tour - Our guide was exceptional as well as exceptionally well informed (as well as exceptionally pregnant :-) though that didn't slow her down from our 4WD ride out to Paradise! Best of luck o her and hers!) with inside factoids and stories about the filming of LOTR as well as X-Men, Prince Caspian and others. Thank you Viator for arranging to make my much too short visit to NZ so memorable!
This trip was great fun and our guide Soap didn't hold back showing us his backyard. He didn't just show us Lord of the Ring scenes but all kinds of other movie sets and it was really cool to have afternoon tea in the middle of the Wolverine set! We took great images and had a fantastic afternoon. Thanks!
Love this tour so much as I'm a photographer! This is a relax tour, was on a Safari, taking you the Glenorchy town which is nobody there only a possum fur shop which is perfect for me to taken photos! but not the photo with all tourist! Our route is so great, everywhere scenery was magnificent view!!! he drive us from the land to the forest, then a bit to the sea then i can take photos! and only 5 people for the whole tour! That means i can take my time to take as much photos as i can and also we don't have a big gap to wait for everybody for the next spot! Really really beautiful scenery!!!
The area we visited was absolutely gorgeous.
The Guide, a young woman (forgot her name),
was just the best we could hope for. Very pleasant time.
Even though the day was not best of weather, the journey was enjoyable and guide was excellent taking the group off the beaten track into the forest for afternoon tea break. Weather improved some the return as the cloud lift to see snow on the higher peaks, strange to see this as we are in Queenstown's summer. For two days now the high peaks around us have snow on them , even the Remarkables had snow on top of, amazing !!!
A relaxing afternoon 4wdriving around Glenorchy, Queenstown and Paradise. Flip knew her topic very well as her obvious love of the area came through. Did think we would see actual sets from various movies rather than imagining them. No mind. Peaceful, natural settings. Stunning panoramas. Great
The tour guide have in depth knowledge and we can picture where and how the movie was made in Queen's town, All in all, i will give a 8/10
If you're a fan of the movies this is an interesting tour. Guide/Driver was great.
If you're not a huge fan of the movies, you might want to find a more scenic tour.
Good tour in theory, just too bad it was raining when we went. We couldn't see many of the views.
Pretty cool locations near Queenstown including gorgeous Glenorchy and Paradise. Plus this trip doesn't take all day.
