What You Can Expect
After pickup from your Queenstown hotel, your adventure begins with a scenic 2-hour nature cruise on famous Milford Sound.
As you cruise the length of the fiord, learn about the history of the region from your expert guide. Feel the gentle spray of a waterfall as you cruise near sheer rock faces. Your experienced skipper will tailor the cruise route depending on the weather and wildlife sightings to ensure you see the best of Milford Sound, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and capture the highlights. Keep an eye out for dolphins, seals and depending on the season, rare Fiordland crested penguins.
After your cruise, you’ll be taken back to your Queenstown hotel.
Walter Peak High Country Farm Tour (Day 2)
Today, meet at Steamer Wharf in Queenstown to begin your rural New Zealand experience. You'll travel to Walter Peak in a unique way -- aboard the TSS Earnslaw, a vintage steamship! You can also visit the Focsle Museum to learn about the history of the ship and see the original steam engines at work from the open viewing area. During the cruise, be entertained by a pianist and sing along to a variety of old favorites and some new!
When you arrive at Walter Peak High Country Farm, head to the Colonel's Homestead for delicious homemade baked goods and a cup of tea or coffee. You have time to take a leisurely stroll through the beautiful lakeside gardens before joining your guide on a walking tour of the farm.
Learn about traditional farming practices and the importance of the different animals to the eco-system. You'll see sheep dogs herding the animals, farmers shearing sheep, and wool being spun. Your tour ends with a return journey by steamship to Queenstown .
