What You Can Expect
Iceland Adventure Weekend: Golden Circle
Meet your expert guide in Reykjavik and depart by comfortable coach to Iceland’s south coast. Hike up Sólheimjökull, on the southwestern tip of Mýrdalsjökull Mountain, and after roughly an hour, arrive at the glacier’s famous ice walls. Under expert supervision, try your hand at ice climbing if you wish. On route back to Reykjavik, stop at the Skógafoss Waterfall to gaze in awe at the beautiful cascades that allow Skógafoss to rival Gullfoss as the country’s most famous waterfall. Your day ends back at your central Reykjavik hotel.
Overnight: 4-star Reykjavik Centrum Hotel
Day 2: Golden Circle and Hvítá River Rafting (B, L)
Set off early for your day of exploring the Golden Circle, the popular Icelandic tour route home to three natural sights that you’ll see with your guide: Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir hot springs. Enjoy a traditional Icelandic lunch at an arctic rafting center -- Drumbo Basecamp -- before an adrenaline pumping white-water rafting experience down the Hvítá River. After relaxing in the showers and sauna at the basecamp, return to Reykjavik.
Overnight: 4-star Reykjavik Centrum Hotel
Day 3: Whale Watching and Blue Lagoon (B)
Meet your guide and cruise into the open sea from Reykjavik harbour on a whale-watching adventure. Your guide will tell you how to spot different species, including minkes and humpbacks; keep your eyes open for the dolphins and porpoises, too! After lunch at leisure in Reykjavik, visit the popular Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. Relax in the steamy waters with roughly two hours to spend at your leisure before returning to Reykjavik.
