Such a great tour, it was a long day but so worth seeing Jokulsarlon Lagoon and the boat ride was spectacular with an awesome guide. Along the way you saw so much of south Iceland's landscape, it was perfect.
Loved the sites, the bus ride, the ability to walk about, and most importantly, the terrific knowledge and cordial demeanor of our tour guide, Brandon. Long day, but oh so worth it! Be sure to bring rain gear for the boat ride....cause you never know what the weather will bring.
Wonderful, informative guide, incredible scenery and so much fun!! It's a long day, but worth it if you want to explore the south, and the scenery all the way is so lovely you won't even notice the time !
Really nice Tour. Long but worth it. Every 1.5-2 hour a stop and a friendly guide.
Great trip, waterfalls, rivers, icebergs long journey but comfortable, the recommended fish stew was not good, but the information given, and scenery were great.
It's totally worth coming to Iceland just for this trip - wow, what a day! Be prepared, it is a very long day but there are frequent stops of interest along the way as well as simple restroom breaks so the time goes quite fast. Getting to take the boat onto the glacier lagoon is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our guide was very knowledgeable, personable, and funny. All in all, absolutely recommended and great value.
This tour was fabulous. It was a long day, but it was worth it. The glaciers were really cool in fact if you walk under the bridge to the ocean there are ice blocks that have washed up on the black sand beach which make for some great pictures. A must see!
One of the most spectacular sights I've ever seen. A mountain backdrop, reflective water, black sand and white/blue icebergs. Photos don't so it justice.
The tour was amazing! I liked that it was a fairly small group and the guide was very knowledgeable. The guide shared information not only about places that we've visited but culture, people, and life in general in Iceland which was very interested to hear. I would love to come back again.
This tour was worth the trip to Iceland! It was on a Saturday and had to cancel a different tour booked on the same day so we could see the icebergs, so glad we did. It was a very long day but there were several stops along the way to break it up. The icebergs were absolutely beautiful and amazing. The weather was great with the sun out so the pictures are terrific and would recommend this tour regardless of the weather.
Long day although trip broken up with frequent stops there and back. Guide was great, Jokulsarlon took our breath away was so beautiful. Even saw the Northern Lights on the way back which the driver stopped for us to get out and ooh and ahh at, so can't complain about a thing! As time was short we did this on our first day and the Golden Circle the day after. Would perhaps have been better if more days available to spread them out as we were so tired what with getting back late and two early mornings!
(+) excellent tour, you can see the amazing landscape that's changing eg the fields, the sea, some waterfalls on the way to the glacier, and the glacier itself is amazing, breathtaking. The illuminating waterfall was a nice touch at the end. The guide (Mattias i think) is the best guide ever. He is really knowledgable and you the stories/info he is telling are very interesting.
(-) be prepared it's the longest tour, about 14hrs, you can't see that much of the south coast, except the waterfall Skogafoss, another glacier (from far away) and you will be at Vik in the afternoon were there's no day light (i'm guessing if you do the tour in the summer you will have plenty of it) to walk to the beach.
Excellent trip - amazing landscapes, I took it in early October and the fall colors were beautiful.
It was a bit rainy and it is a long trip but it is definitely worth it!
We greatly enjoyed our trip to the lagoon and the varying landscape enroute. We enjoy mountains and waterfalls and there were many to observe or stop at during the trip. They brrought a small clear iceberg onto the boat and they talked about it and then broke it apart so we were able to hold it. After the boat ride we went quickly to the ocean side and looked at the washed up icebergs on the beach and that was also very interesting. We really enjoyed the trip.
The trip is great and the guide is excellent. But the iceburg is not at huge as imagination.
Great trip. Guides were very knowledgeable and interesting. Scenery was fantastic. Buses were on time and very comfortable.
Fantastic Glacier Tour. The highlight of the day.. Beautiful.
Amazing tour. The drive is a bit long and I wish we had a few more shorter stops along the way to experience walking among the lava fields we passed, however arriving i Jokulsarlon Lagoon is well worth the wait. Several of the waterfalls were spectacular as we'll, but the lagoon with the icebergs and the chance to eat centuries-old pure water ice cubes straight from the glacier was quite a treat!
Journey is worth it. You get to see the beautiful waterfalls and the lagoon.
Do not try to do this tour if arriving on a cruise ship at 0700 that morning. Due to weather, our ship was 2 hours late pulling in to port, an hour after the tour departure time. The company was very nice and was able to get us on a different tour later in the day (which was shorter and the price was just over a third of what we paid for this one), but there was a reason we hadn't taken the shorter one in the first place, and it was a bit painful knowing how much we were paying for it. The weather and our delay wasn't the fault of ourselves, the ship, or the tour company, but in the end, we were the ones who lost several hundred dollars - it's not worth the risk. Only book if staying in Reykjavik. (Note: I put 5 stars because the rating was required and that seems to be the norm for the reviews - didn't want to mess up their average).
It was a beautiful showcase of Iceland. The Jokulsarlon Lagoon was really special and we had sunshinefor that experience. When it is pooring rain these trips should be cancelled, because you get soaking wet with a cold rain and that is no fun.
This tour was a transcendent experience, truly. It moved me. It's also a really nice thing to do if you were, like I was, traveling alone. The length of time was a plus, because we got to see so much beauty along the way -- the horses and sheep, the farms, tiny towns, lupen growing everywhere, glaciers, lava fields, flocks of nesting birds, the sea. And the Lagoon itself will forever remain one of the most exquisite things I've seen in all my travels. I live in the southwestern US; we have a lot of almost otherworldly beauty here as well, so my expectations were high. Still, the trip far exceeded them. I'm so glad that, on a relatively short trip, I picked this excursion for my one big adventure.
It is a long journey to finally get to see the glacier lagoon but it is absolutely worth it. The place is amazing.
