Journey is worth it. You get to see the beautiful waterfalls and the lagoon.
Do not try to do this tour if arriving on a cruise ship at 0700 that morning. Due to weather, our ship was 2 hours late pulling in to port, an hour after the tour departure time. The company was very nice and was able to get us on a different tour later in the day (which was shorter and the price was just over a third of what we paid for this one), but there was a reason we hadn't taken the shorter one in the first place, and it was a bit painful knowing how much we were paying for it. The weather and our delay wasn't the fault of ourselves, the ship, or the tour company, but in the end, we were the ones who lost several hundred dollars - it's not worth the risk. Only book if staying in Reykjavik. (Note: I put 5 stars because the rating was required and that seems to be the norm for the reviews - didn't want to mess up their average).
It was a beautiful showcase of Iceland. The Jokulsarlon Lagoon was really special and we had sunshinefor that experience. When it is pooring rain these trips should be cancelled, because you get soaking wet with a cold rain and that is no fun.
This tour was a transcendent experience, truly. It moved me. It's also a really nice thing to do if you were, like I was, traveling alone. The length of time was a plus, because we got to see so much beauty along the way -- the horses and sheep, the farms, tiny towns, lupen growing everywhere, glaciers, lava fields, flocks of nesting birds, the sea. And the Lagoon itself will forever remain one of the most exquisite things I've seen in all my travels. I live in the southwestern US; we have a lot of almost otherworldly beauty here as well, so my expectations were high. Still, the trip far exceeded them. I'm so glad that, on a relatively short trip, I picked this excursion for my one big adventure.
It is a long journey to finally get to see the glacier lagoon but it is absolutely worth it. The place is amazing.
This was a very long day but the results were worth it. There were many great views from the bus but unfortunately time didn't allow us photo stops at everything we admired for obvious reasons. Being on the water amongst the icebergs at Jokulsarlon is a fabulous experience. I would recommend this trip.
This was a long trip to undertake by coach, but well planned with frequent stops, and the landscape was varied and dramatic. The tour guide was excellent, providing interesting and thoughtful commentary. We felt we not only saw far more of Iceland than we would have by hiring a car and planning our own trip, but we were given insight into the country's history and culture. The final supper stop at a grill was a little grim, but other wise the rest stops were pleasant and well planned and the coach was comfortable- good leg room! The blue icebergs were breathtaking, as was walking behind a 60m waterfall; and we were entertained by Arctic terns, lava fields, lupins, glaciers, steam rising from hot springs, skuas, mountain caves and icelandic horses along the route. The trip may not be ideal in really poor visibility weather, but otherwise I would highly recommend this excursion, particularly to people trying to cram in as much as possible on a short holiday. Particular thanks to our very well-educated and quietly passionate guide!
Pick up and drop off at hotels were well managed. Tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about educating tourists about her country. Many stops along the day to various spots. Jokulsarlon Lagoon was amazing! It was certainly one of the many great excursions i have ever had. Go for it!
Really good.tour and.nice getting.to see.some.great destination in South iceland.and.is.really worth the.trip:)
Amazing cannot say much more. I would recommend this to everyone. 6 stars in my count.
The glacier lagoon and the Vatnajokull/Skaftafell National park is breathtakingly beautiful and is one of the must-do things in Iceland. The trip with Viator was very well planned with frequent stops at beautiful waterfalls and landmarks. We had a very short wait to get on to the glacier lagoon boat ride thanks to the pre-booking with the company that operates the boats. We had a great tour guide who did an excellent job of pointing out the various landmarks and talking about Iceland in general. The round-trip from Reykjavik is a long 10 hr day and our tour guide kept us entertained with songs and informative tidbits about Iceland, folklores, economy etc. Highly recommend taking this trip if you cannot do it yourself.
This was a very good trip, the guide was excellent, the weather reasonable good. The tour operator does a good job picking everybody up who is booked for the tour. This is an excellent way to see the highlights of the entire south coast of Iceland in one day. The bus is good and there is time to see everything and relax and eat meals in a 16 hour time frame.
We have just come back from a trip to Iceland and used Iceland Excursion on three seperate trips. The service they provided was second to done and I would highly recommmend them. They provided hotel pick ups that were very punctual, the three trips we did all departed and arrive back on time. The staff at the main depot were very friendly and helpful. The guide on this tour was very friendly, informative and really engaging. I can't say one bad thing about my experience. Alot of reviews of this trip stated that it was a very long day and as a result kind of tough, I can't say we found this to be ture the day actually seemed to pass really quickly. Infact I would love to go back to Iceland again and I will definitely be using IE.
(I normally don't write reviews only if the experince is really bad or really good, this was a really good experience)
WOW....great! The amphibious vehicle ride among the icebergs was particularly wonderful!
It is a very long trip - but absolutely worth it! Thanks to regular breaks, including some quick photo stops, it did not feel that long. Our guide Matthias was very knowledgeable and provided interesting background information.
Great experience. Get a real feel for the history of Iceland as well as seeing some pretty amazing sights.
Long day but totally worth it!

It was a 14 hour trip but its difficult to say I was tired. The journey on this road is like being in a parallel universe...black soil....blue oceans....white mountains....waterfalls every 100 metres....seals swimming in the glacial lagoon....blocks of ice on a black beach....a waterfall to go behind....an arctic tern flying in the distance.....Oh my God ....we loved every minute of it....fabulous stuff...South Iceland truly rocks!!!!!

Although this is a long 14-hour day trip, it is well worth the hours on the coach to see the Lagoon. There are several stops along the way (technical stops, lunch and dinner) as well as several photo stops and waterfall views. A great tour!
The tour was superb and the tour guide was absolutely entertaining and informative. The bus was comfortable and the logistics were very easy.
Definitely worth the price and time! This excursion was a birthday present for a friend ---- no better way to celebrate.
The tour is loooooong, but well worth it. We learned so much about Iceland. The landscape is so varied and interesting. You really get a feel for the place. It's a nice way to see/learn a lot in a day.
The tour involves so many hours inside the coach, but the lagoon, the waterfalls and even all the landscape you can see through the window at any second of the tour are impressive!
