A bit physically demanding but worth it! If u like geography stuff and u r adventurous , this is a must go tour for u.
This hike was a fun challenge. Fabulous wonder of the world exploring caves created from lava. We enjoyed a few bruises and getting dirty! The equipment was nice but I recommend adding knee pads to the jump suits, especially for the people above 2 meters tall.
Excellent....it was exciting to go under the ground and explore; the tour guide was excellent (explain the nature in depths) and we did really enjoy the trip.
This was a really cool tour. The lava tubes were very fun to explore an the staff was wonderful!!
I really loved this tour the guide was amazing letting you know all about the surrounding area and the cave itself. This was not the most stunning cave I have ever seen but it did not distract from the fun of getting dressed up in bright orange jumpsuits and hard hats and climbing through very small places. This tour would only have been better if they also supplied knee pad as I came out covered in bruises (being tall didnt help).
This turned out to be one of our favorite tours during our recent stay! However, everyone should be fully aware of what this entails. We read other reviews and thought there would be a LITTLE crawling on all fours........but there was A LOT! In fact bring knee pads if you have them. It was very dark and wet and part of what we liked is that we were scared we wouldn't make it through the small crawl spaces. But our tour guide was great and always encouraged us. This was definitely a "once in a lifetime" adventure.
Awesome adventure! The guide was fantastic. Be aware that this tour requires some crawling and bending over.
fun! Not hard but had to crawl on hands and knees for 2-3 meters a few times.

It was strenous crawling in the cave but it was awesome. Our guide was fantastic and he gave us coveralls, gloves and hard hats to wear to protect us from the elements. Once in a lifetime experience.

Great experience, we kind of got a little lost in the cave because the group split and there were only 3 of us in the back, the guide didn't came with us inside, but it was just great!!! WOW!!!
What a day trip from Reykjavik! We were looking for something that would get us closer to the raw nature of Iceland, this tours was perfect. Great guide, the caves were simply amazing. It made our trip.
Fantastic experience, well worth it. Not for the claustrophobic or anyone with back or knee problems. We were picked up on time, taken to the cave through stunning scenery, kitted out with overalls, helmets and gloves. My only complaint is with the overalls. Most of,them had seen better days, some were ripped and the choice of size was not good. Both my sons are 6 footers and had trouble with the overalls, not the size around the chest, but the length of the body. Also I think the gloves should have been waterproof. Other than that, I can thoroughly recommend this trip.
It was a nice experience to crawl through the caves exploring. Going in winter there were plenty of icicles from the cave roof and our tour guide was great!
A different view of the lava. Guide was well informed. Nice adventure!
Suit up in an orange jumpsuit, strap on a helmet and get ready to do some caving! It was neat to learn about the history of the lava tubes and see the unique caves (not bats, bugs, etc.!), but I would have loved a bit more direction about where we were going....Our specific tour guide stood in the back while one of the other tour participants led the way. It gave the tour the feeling like we were on a team adventure, but it often felt as if we were wandering aimlessly (whieh I don't love). My favorite parts were when he took the lead and gave us expert info about what we were seeing!
Note: If you don't like small spaces or crawling on your knees, this tour is not for you.
This tour was okay. It was definitely interesting to go into the lava tube and see the many different textures of the walls/floor/ceiling throughout the tunnels. The helmets were a lifesaver many many times. Be prepared to crouch, bend, crawl, and roll to get through some spots in this tour.
Good experience, though we made the mistake of doing this just a few hours after we landed and it's certainly a fairly strenuous activity. Be prepared to crawl on lots of tiny rocks with sharp edges for parts of it. Deducted a star because the guide went way too fast and we were left trying to find him most of the time (and it wasn't just jet-lagged us because the entire group was going the same speed as us). He would dart far ahead and wait for us to catch up, say a few things, then dart again. Maybe that's supposed to be the "fun" of caving....but I wanted a guide to stay closer so we wouldn't go down a wrong way.

This was great fun - but those who take the tour should be aware there is some scrambling around in narrow passages!

The tour guide was excellent. The trip inside the caves was very hard as we had to walk in crab fashion bending close to the ground and sometimes the only way to navigate the narrow space in the caves was to roll across. Nevertheless it was awe-inspiring as we saw the various formations of rocks and the imprints on rock left by the molten lava as it flowed through. On reflection, I shudder to think what might have happened if an earthquake had occurred whilst we were in the caves! My only advise is, please make it clear on your website that this trip should be taken only by those who are very physically fit and able to contort their bodies to go through the caves.
The guide was terrific, however, the actual cave tour was disappointing. It was more like a tunnel than a cave, and it was mostly just crawling through the tunnel with not much chance for photo taking.
The guide was friendly and jovial, however, the trip was slightly marred by a 1.5 hour delay from 6-7 of the participants being lost in the cave. Certainly not a trip one will forget, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. The ratio of participants to guides was far too high, and I would choose to go on a trip with a maximum of 8-10 participants going forward.
