Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, this tour was cancelled. The tour company was wonderful in providing a full refund and suggesting other tours we could sign up for. Providing five stars due to the wonderful customer service...can't be mad at Mother Nature!
The bus ride to the site was about 45 minutes and when we arrived we were treated with the northern lights just starting to dance around the sky. It's hard to describe the beauty. We stayed maybe 2 hours and were not disappointed as they continued to entertain us the whole time. Our tour had a photographer, he took many great shots and his prices are reasonable, 25.00 US. There is a small museum that had a bar open for drinks.
Excellent and we were very fortunate to see the Northern Lights on one of the best nights of the year
It was so much fun! The Northern Lights weren't very bright this night but our tour guide waited for as long as possible at the venue to give us the best experience and hopefully see them dancing. Unfortunately, they didn't end up coming out later in the night but she gave us so much great information and tips!
Dress warmly--it gets super cold and it's a late night. There's a little convenience store where you can buy coffee/hot chocolate but it gets packed once the rest of the buses show up.
Northern Light is a natural phenomenon, hence the visible is not always guaranteed. But we were lucky to witness this. It was visible to naked eyes very lightly. For better view one needs to look thorough camera lens. Tripod is must if you wish to take pictures with your DSLR camera. It is impossible to shoot a northern light picture with smart phone or DSLR without Tripod.
Tips : For those who dont have tripod, try to base your camera in a still base car top, dustbin, handrail etc
It was a long cold night and it seemed we were on the bus forever, but it was all worth it. The Northern Lights are magnificent! The driver and the guide were very nice and made the trip as enjoyable as they could possibly could have.
This was one of the highlights of the trip. Mother nature cooperated for the first time in 2015.
Interesting to see the wilderness up in the highlands.
Good driving throughout and guide spoke excellent English .
Excellent again could not fault, we did not think we were going to see them and we stood outside in the blistering gale force freezing cold winds but we went into the light house and we were the only people left outside after 2 hours eventually the cold was too much and we popped back on the bus and as we were literally about to drive off somebody mentioned the lights and we all ran off the bus and could not believe my eyes. Thank you to the lady who talks about the stories on the journey I thought she was very sweet
We got to see the lights and they were magnificent, given loads of time there to enjoy them! The first night we had originally booked was cancelled due to the weather but there were no issues in rearranging for another night.
After waiting for 4-5 hours, we finally saw the lights! The tour guides were very patient. Very nice and worth the money!
This tour was everything I expected you go in a coach to a remote part of the Island in our case the 2 light houses And you stand outside until the lights come out. It's not always garunteed but for us they showed my only advice to anyone going is dress warmly you'll be out for a few hours
Highly recommend, but it is really depends on the weather. If you are lucky you can see the lights, but if it is cloudy, you can miss it.
It was wonderful and we saw the lights. What could be better than that!
After a second attempt and location we finally got to see the beautiful northern lights which took our breaths away. 4 hours of chasing the northern lights were worth the unbelievable experience of a lifetime! Highly recommend!
Unfortunately our trip was cancelled due to cloudy skies every night we were in Iceland, but the tour company were very good about it, sending us messages letting us know and they happily reorganised for us to go at another time. Our other experiences with this company were all very positive so I'm sure this trip would have been great if the weather had been better.
It was looking a lot like we would not see the lights. However the guide and driver were both so informative about lots of other really cool and interesting things along the way and as we were heading back in to town with about 15 monutes of the journy left to go the aurora came out and lit up the sky dancing around for all to see. Do not make this the absolute must see of your visit. We were lucky it hadnt been visible for several days and I met a lot of people who never got the chance to see it. This is a really good plus if you do get to witness it but dont make it your overall goal. You should go on this tour though. Even if you dont see the lights the guides are really great and should you not see it your ticket is valid for 2 years until you do.
We booked this tour for the early part of our holiday - a useful piece of advice. It was cancelled 4 times due to cloudy or unsuitable weather conditions. The trip was all systems go for our last night. The coach pick up and tour guide were brilliant - not getting our hopes up too high, but letting us know we were in the hands of mother nature. And boy were we in for a treat!!! 2 hours of the green and white brilliance of in the night sky right on the southern tip of Iceland. Couldn't recommend this enough. A spine tingling treat!! But just one note of caution........you are totally in the hands of Mother Nature! Good luck.
