We got to see the lights and they were magnificent, given loads of time there to enjoy them! The first night we had originally booked was cancelled due to the weather but there were no issues in rearranging for another night.
Unfortunately our trip was cancelled due to cloudy skies every night we were in Iceland, but the tour company were very good about it, sending us messages letting us know and they happily reorganised for us to go at another time. Our other experiences with this company were all very positive so I'm sure this trip would have been great if the weather had been better.
This tour was everything I expected you go in a coach to a remote part of the Island in our case the 2 light houses And you stand outside until the lights come out. It's not always garunteed but for us they showed my only advice to anyone going is dress warmly you'll be out for a few hours
We booked this tour for the early part of our holiday - a useful piece of advice. It was cancelled 4 times due to cloudy or unsuitable weather conditions. The trip was all systems go for our last night. The coach pick up and tour guide were brilliant - not getting our hopes up too high, but letting us know we were in the hands of mother nature. And boy were we in for a treat!!! 2 hours of the green and white brilliance of in the night sky right on the southern tip of Iceland. Couldn't recommend this enough. A spine tingling treat!! But just one note of caution........you are totally in the hands of Mother Nature! Good luck.
Highly recommend, but it is really depends on the weather. If you are lucky you can see the lights, but if it is cloudy, you can miss it.
Although the lights were not visible, the tour was very enjoyable, professionally conducted and friendly staff. Plus, you get to return for free if nothing was seen
Wow! These guys know where to go and when! Although the tour kept getting canceled due to bad weather, when we finally did go, we saw the lights on our first try. Amazing!
We were lucky enough to have a clear sky and a feast of green lights to follow out the the national park..tour guides were great and stopped a couple of times along the way so we could nip out into the -13 air and take quick photos before racing back onto the warm bus :
It was looking a lot like we would not see the lights. However the guide and driver were both so informative about lots of other really cool and interesting things along the way and as we were heading back in to town with about 15 monutes of the journy left to go the aurora came out and lit up the sky dancing around for all to see. Do not make this the absolute must see of your visit. We were lucky it hadnt been visible for several days and I met a lot of people who never got the chance to see it. This is a really good plus if you do get to witness it but dont make it your overall goal. You should go on this tour though. Even if you dont see the lights the guides are really great and should you not see it your ticket is valid for 2 years until you do.
It was wonderful and we saw the lights. What could be better than that!
We had a very long night but a very enjoyable and worthwhile one. After our first stop it seemed we would not see the lights. We were then taken to some hot springs and that appeared to be that. But the tour guides kept trying and we finally saw the lights. The guides described them as not the best but at least we had seen them. On our way back we stopped again and this time saw the lights even better. Thanks to the perseverance of the tour guides.
We enjoyed our norther lights tour. We went on January 5, 2015 and were able to see the lights from about 10:00pm for roughly half and hour. The skies were partly cloudy and there was a full moon. As the night progressed, the skies cleared but we saw no more activity. The tour took us to two spots. We were thrilled to have seen the lights since the tours were cancelled the day before and after our trip due to poor weather conditions.
After a second attempt and location we finally got to see the beautiful northern lights which took our breaths away. 4 hours of chasing the northern lights were worth the unbelievable experience of a lifetime! Highly recommend!
The tour guides are really good, pointing out where to look, you need a good camera as an iPhone doesn't pick the lights up! The driver also stopped on the way back so we could see a great view on the lights!
It was too cloudy. Could not see the lights. Was told tickets was good for two years if you don't see the lights you just have to rebook. your name is in the system. Nice ride out, could see the John Lennon light from Videy Island.
We had an excellent guide. We didn't get to see the lights on this tour but are rebooking for another date. Our hotel informed us that you never have to worry about the tours filling up when trying to rebook, because they just add more buses and guides, which is a huge relief to my partner and me.
The tour was great! It was very organized and the guide was knowledgeable and friendly!
AMAZING TOUR. A must when in iceland. Went out first night unfortunately only seen Ñorthern lights faintly. Was told we could go again the following night free of charge. Glad we did had the most amazing display. Female tour guide arga ? Was amazing. Very knowledgeable. Loved this tour. Well don
Great tour guide Anna and we luckily got to see the Aurora borealis.
Seeing the Northern Lights is not a given. I would suggest booking this tour for the first night and then keep trying on other nights if you don't see the lights. At 4pm each day, you'll find out if the tour is going that day. If the tour does go out and you don't see anything, you can go another night for free. If you don't see anything while you're there, the ticket is good for two years.
