This was a great experience. Sylvia was so fun and taught us a lot about Iceland. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning about Iceland. The beer was good and followed by a short tour of the brewery. We really had an awesome time.

Great beer tasting, Olaf was a very funny lady.
We could drink as much beer as we wanted and we even got refill on snacks! :D
Wish we had some more time after the tasting to sit and enjoy the rest of our beer, it was a new group coming in 30min after, so it was a bit of a rush with the bus back and everything, but else from that it was well worth the money!!

Our guide Olaf was very entertaining with lots of information about Iceland's prohibition.
Plenty of tasting of beer and some spirits.

Great time had and great value.

COMPLETELY AWESOME!
I was hoping the reviews I've read wouldn't let me down..
This was the first "official" tour we did after landing in Iceland, and what a great way to start things off!
We were greeted by Sylvia at the entrance to the Brewery - And I wish I could do a review just on her because she was so over the top and just perfectly wonderful to do this tour.

During the tour, you'll get an overview of Iceland's history (I know.. history! But Sylvia makes it fun! I promise!) and during this, you'll sample 4 drinks. And while 4 may not sound like a lot, it is.
You'll even get a treat of a special beer that you can only get at the brewery or at the duty free shop (or so we were told, but we didn't have any luck :( )
Since we did the tour on Friday, all production had closed for the weekend, but we were still able to walk around and see all aspects of the facility.

Again, it was such a great experience!
From Sylvia's 80's dance moves to making sure all of our "Skál"s were LOUD like the vikings!
And, of course, the great assortment of Icelandic Beers.

Would love to be able to return and do this tour again.

The brewery is highly recommended! The host Olaf is extremely funny and makes it a wonderful experience. They encourage you to drink as much beer as you want which is a nice change from most breweries. However, there is not much of a brewery tour, but more talking about the history of beer in Iceland with a small viewing of where the brewing happenings. Definitely a highlight of Iceland!

Great fun. They were not stingy with the amount of alcohol they provided for you to try. We even got to try the Icelandic Christmas drink.

MUST DO! We did this our last night in Reykjavik and had an amazing time. You are seated at larger tables with other people in the tour and we all made friends quick. The "tasting" is almost a full pint of each variety you're trying with unlimited refills of gull for the table. Our "guide" was amazing. She was incredibly nice, friendly and knowledgeable. By the time we took the short tour of the brewery, almost everyone was intoxicated. We had a great bus ride back to the city and a large group of us all went out together. Only thing is that I wish I would have done it sooner so I would have known what to order while we were out and about in Reykjavik!

My family and I were doing an extended layover in Iceland on the way back to the states from Europe. We wanted to experience as much of the Icelandic culture as possible, and this tour helped us to taste (drink) everything Icelandic! We were able to sample 5-6 major brews (including some Xmas brews since they were in season) as well as a shot of the Brennivan's (sp?). We definitely made sure to eat enough before hand, because - like I said before - they were pretty full drinks, not tastes. Our tour guide Olaf was hysterical and a real entertainer. She told stories and brought us through the history of beer/liquor in Iceland while letting us taste (and re-taste) a variety of beer. We even sampled a traditional non-alcoholic Icelandic Xmas drink that was very tasty! Half-way through the beer, we got to walk around and see where the brews were stored, bottled, and shipped out. It was cool being in the HQ afterhours on a Saturday night. My only wish was that it'd be the full 2 hours instead of 1.5. Great tour!

This was an excellent tour which i can't rate highly enough. If i am honest, out of all the tours i had booked, this was the tour that i wasn't expecting much from and wasn't as excited about. However the tour was so informative and made so fun and entertaining by our lovely guide Silvia. Compared to other brewery tours i've been on, this one gives you lots of booze so i recommend eating well beforehand!

We did this tour on our first night in Reykjavik based on previous reviews and were not disappointed.
This is not just "touring another brewery". This is theater at it's best. Once inside the brewery, we were escorted to a spacious tasting room/bar and Slyvia began her presentation by pouring us all a pint of Gull with an invitation for more beer if we so desired. She then proceeded to tell us about the history of beer, alcohol and prohibition in Iceland with all the drama and wit of an Emmy award winning actress. She captivated us with her charm and knowledge on the subject all the while keeping our glasses full of various beer concoctions consumed throughout the history of Iceland. We highly recommend this tour if love beer, folklore and being entertained. A great value for the money.
