Without doubt one of the best tours we have taken, our guide was from Ireland and had lived in Iceland several years. He, with the captain, provided exceptional insight to the environmental impacts affection the birds and the birds themselves. The tour was not rushed and at a very nice pace to get close up and observe the birds.
This tour was fantastic! I was picked up at my hotel on time and taken to the docks where a very knowledgeable captain and guide took the small group to see the puffins. Make sure you have a camera with great zoom and/or binoculars to get the most from this trip. Return to my hotel was readily available upon docking. The driver, the same person who picked me up, was kind, courteous and extremely accommodating. I would choose this company over the other one I also used in Reykjavik in a heartbeat. They left me, literally, at the docks at the end of our tour and their "review site" link doesn't work. (Wonder why)
Really good. We got pretty close to the island so it was easy to see the puffins. We also got really close to those in water. Apparently it helps if you go at high tide (so that the boat can get closer to the island), which is what we did.
We had the 10:30 tour. Only a handful of people on the boat. Nice little trip before we had to leave Iceland. We saw a lot of puffins. Nice and relaxing morning trip.
While we saw lots of puffins, and that is what this was all about, I can't give this more than 3 stars due to the fact that we were supposed to be on a tour boat with a cabin, but apparently there was engine trouble and we were put on a fishing boat that was open and wet. We enjoyed the guide well enough as he was a character we will long remember, but when one goes on a puffin tour, one should have a guide who knows about puffins. It was fun enough to be on the boat and see the birds; I am glad we did it.
