Rough seas in mid-May, but we saw a number of whales and porpoises. Very convenient locations and easy travel between destinations.

Whale watching was a bit disappointing as we never actually saw any whales and it was not the time of the year for puffins. We did see some dolphins, but it was difficult to take photos. Thoroughly enjoyed Blue Lagoon. Such a stark contrast in temperature, being in your bikini walking to lagoon when it was 2 degrees outside and the lagoon was so warm and relaxing.
Great to see some whales but the large ones migrate further north now that the ocean is warmer. They have over clothes for us to put on so all one needs to bring is hat and gloves. So we were totally comfortable.

Unfortunately we didn't see any whales but we did see dolphins. If you only do one thing in Iceland, make sure it's the Blue Lagoon!!! The tours are very well run and the door to door drop offs are second to none.

Sea was very rough, free seasickness pills were handed out when we boarded the boat and unfortunately we saw no whales at all. We were offered a free return trip to compensate for this, which we didn't take up as we could not have fit it in to the remaining time we had in Iceland. I was seasick despite having taken the pills.
The Blue Lagoon was absolutely fantastic but be aware that the trip does not include the entrance fee to the bathing area. It was expensive, but worth every krona. Especially recommended is the waterfall, just like having a massage and wonderfully de-stressing. I recommend it.
Everything was well organised and would have been a lot better if the weather had been good. It was very choppy sea and got very cold, just unfortunate we chose that time. We saw a fair amount of dolphins which was great, shame there were no visible whales. The tour guide was very good and informative too. Worth the trip if the weather is better.

OK, but we were not lucky enough to see anything. We were offered a free return trip, but it was our last day there.
The whale watching boat was extremely crowded with 100+ students. There was only 1 hour of time actually spent at the Blue Lagoon which wasn't enough time to actually go in the lagoon as we had to leave for the airport. I suggest that you should advise people of this as it was all a waste of time for us.
