Good trip with comfortable cruise ship.
I had a amazing time enjoying the scenery and all the castles along the river.
A must for those visiting Germany.
We cruised from Koblenz down to Cochem (the Moselle River) using the one day KD Rhine Pass. It was an excellent way to simply sit back and enjoy the river and views as towns, locks and great countryside all drifted by. We stayed overnight in Cochem, which is delightful, and then caught the train back to Koblenz to continue with our touring. It was very easy and convenient, the KD pass is not expensive, although I would recommend booking ahead, esp in busy times, and the Moselle is as interesting, if not even lovelier than the more famous Rhine
It was the breathtaking day! The Nostalgic Route with romantic paddle steamer GOETHE was the best choise to celebrate our 46- years long marriage.Helpfull staff, good lunch, halb troken Riesling - we liked everything.Fabulous! Would be nice to come again! Andris@Anita from Latvia
The trip we did was extremely good. We went as far as Bacharach. Left the paddle steamer for lunch. Pretty village, then returned on another boat. We did get a cup of tea in the bar but there were no other refreshments. Which was an opportunity missed with a captive audience Very good value.
This was fabulous. Saw so many beautiful castles on the route. very pleasant day on the Rhine. We sat at the bow of the boat. and it was the best pace to sit. Parking is expensive at the dock cost us 16 Euro in the meter and we have to have the correct coin change for the meter .
We left form Koblenz and was 5 hours to Rudeshiem and got off for an hour in Rudeshiem very pretty little town. and then 3 hours back. We would have liked a few more stops and a little more time at the stops. Would recommend it highly
Awesome day cruise at a reasonable price. We found it very relaxing! We would definetley do it again.
We had a great day and would recomend this trip to everyone. the views were out of this world. Staff and crew on board were very helpfull and cheerfull and could not do enough for us. Many thanks Tony,Debbie,Linda and Neil
Fantastic! Rhein was very swollen due to floods but second time i have done this and just as great. Suggest starting at koblenz and jumping off at bingen and training it back. Would be a very long day boating all the way home too. Oh and when waiting at koblenz go for a walk to where the mosel meets the rhein as a fantastic monument stands there....only 5mins along the river from where you jump on the boat. Must do if in this part of germany.
The trip was on our 40th wedding anniversary, and perfect in every way. Staff congenial and helpful. We had read the blog sites, no one recommended the 11 hour round trip so we also left the boat downstream and took train back to Koblenz. Loved it, memory of a lifetime.
For the money, it was a great cruise - lots of beautiful scenery including castles and old ruins. The ship itself was comfortable - very clean and spacious.
Very good value for money. Well worth doing, but 11 hours is a little long. How about doing it one way with a train return journey?
An absolute must. I have thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and the breathtaking scenary around. The restaurant waitress was a little rude but that did not spoil my spirit. The cruise was also very cost effective.
Great views, good quality service. Food and drinks on board are reasonably priced. I recommend taking the boat one way and then taking the train back to give you sufficient time to do some sightseeing.
The sights along the cruise make this trip well worth taking. The information given over the speakers about the major sites was good. The food was good although the waitstaff was not overly friendly and were more concerned with which part of the counter you order from than meeting guests needs. The ship was clean, large, with plenty of seating for views and we loved the cruise overall.
The convenience of being able to "hop on hop off" as you cruise along the Rhine is really great and the timetable allows for sensible stops along the way. We found the system to be very efficient and not too expensive. Some of the facilities on the boats varied in terms of quality, but overall it was a good way to see the Rhine
You get the best of the Rhine for a fraction of the price!
12 hours of history and beauty ... We've done this trip twice before and thoroughly enjoy it.
Rhine river cruise is a nice relaxing way to see a lot of the old towns and castles and vineyards.
One way is good enough.
We loved our day on the Rhine! We wished there was a more detailed booklet we could purchase on board that would give details about the sites we passed. We loved that we could have lunch on board, and there were many choices to choose from. It was a highlight of our Germany trip for sure, and a MUST for those in the area. Thanks!
The Nostalgic Route uses the historic paddle boat "Goethe". The boat is beautifully renovated and very comfortable. The stops were exactly on time and everything was visible through the boat windows. The upriver trip culminates with an hour-long stop over in Ruedesheim, where you can buy great locally produced wines. However, we were scolded for opening our bottle back on the boat. All of the seats on the boat are at tables serviced by waiters. I wish it had been more clear that brown-bagging was frowned upon, or, even better, to have some parts of the boat where it is allowed.
the trip down the rhine is beautiful but down and back by boat is too much in one day. it's better to go down by boat and then catch the train back to koblenz
I enjoyed the ride up and down the river very much. Make sure you take time to get off at several of the stops and walk around and tour the castles and towns and eat lunch. The views are incredible, and the service was excellent, and the boat was very clean and extremely relaxing.
