I had toured the Rhine once before many years ago, and so knew what to expect, yet was even more in awe this second time some 30 years later. Our only disappointment was the boat no longer goes all the way to Koblenze. We always recommend this trip to anyone visiting Central Europe
We had an excellent time on the KD Rhine Tour. We would highly recommend this trip.
Excellent experience. So many things to see and all from the comfort of a nice seats at tables. They announced in German and English as things were coming up on the river often giving details about the castles, towns and geography of the region. We took advantage of the all day pass and hopped off in Oberwessel to check out the castle there and were able to hop on the next boat to continue our journey.
Really good, a very pleasant trip, magic sightseeing, good value
We took a trip from Mainz to Koblenz - got off the boat in Boppard and took another boat to Koblenz. This tour was really nice; definitely worthy experience. Stuff is very knowledgable and courteous.
Great cruise only problem was we were not told about the last boat back to Weisbaden and the time. had to take a train back.
Worth every cent! Buying the day ticket allows you freedom to do what you want. We spent a few hours cruising to St. Goar, another hour or so walking through and around the sights, then trained it back. It was our choice to use the train for return to Mainz due to other commitments.
Some people took their own food onboard to eat, but we had snacks, reasonably priced, but coffee overpriced for size.
The boat was clean, not crowded and staff onboard could have been more helpful. Waiter didn't return change from payment of bill, expecting it as a tip. Wife asked a question and was rudely told that he was too busy looking after people on the boat, and this was the same guy that took the tip. Well he thought he could take the tip, I asked him for the change. I told him it was up to me as to what I gave as a tip and that he should never expect.
We had a wonderful, sunny day on the boat on Sept 25th. We stayed overnight in Mainz as this is where the boat starts from and got off in Cologne-8:45am-8pm total duration. Scenery is fantastic along the way and time passes quickly. Booking the pass through Viator saved us quite a bit of money. We stored our luggage below and sat inside for awhile then sat outside on top deck. Food and drinks are available on the boat and service is quick. Wonderful way to see castles on the Rhine. You can get off at any dock and hop back on along the way if you only want to travel a shorter distance.
The tour was fabulous. We lucked out and had great weather, the staff were very polite and professional, and the scenery - spectacular. Would definitely recommend.
This was a beautiful trip and a relaxing way to travel and see some of the most picturistic parts of Germany.
We made trip from Rudesheim to St.Goar and back to see Rhine castles from the water. It is much better than similar trip in auto: you are not busy with car driving, not necessary to search place for parking when you see attractive landscape, and you see both banks of the river (while during driving you mainly have full picture only from opposite bank of the River).
Trip is well organized: we get confirmation of your order and tickets immediately and later several reminders about forthcoming journey.
It was better than I expected, and I didn't have low expectations. Was surprised by the onboard restaurants, decently priced, and varied menu. The trip was very entertaining, excellent way to take in the area.
Great trip, allows you a lot of freedom to get off and on. The only thing you'll need to be aware of us if you miss the last boat for a certain city you will have to go by train and that could cost a bit. Luckily we were prepared!
The "hop on hop" off KD Ferry, scenery, food, accomodations, people, and the ease of transportation from Cologne to Rudesheim. Plan on returning in October using Dusseldorf as gate way city. I hesitate to write this review because I would like to keep this little part of the world to myself. Selfish!
We loved this trip and would come back and do the entire length instead
of just St. Goar and Bacharach. Thank you!
We cruised from Rudesheim to Boppard. The ship was comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. Our three hour journey was extremely relaxing and took us through a very beautiful and scenic part of the Rhine with lots of pretty buildings and castles to look at on the way. This was a great way to end our holiday. I would highly recommend this trip.
It was a great trip. The views were spectacular and there were plenty of castles to see. We stopped at Bacharach and had a very fine lunch. The town was like something out of the 17th century. It was the highlight of my European trip. Very much recommended.
The trip was awesome. I have never seen so many castles! The staff was accomodating and food was good. Made some new friends and would definately recommend it.
Would like to recommend that you advertise that the best seats can be reserved. All of the window seats in the front of the boat were reserved. I didn't know that was an option. We arrived early to get good seats. Fortunately the weather was not so bad that we spent most of our time on top deck.
Our Rhine cruise on the K-D Lorelei boat departed Mainz at 8:45 am . Our voucher had to be exchanged for tickets at the ticket office-which was at the boat dock.
We cruised from Mainz to Koblenz--where the Rhine and Mosel Rivers meet (arrival 2pm).
Visited the Ludwig Museum and the King Wilhelm statue--We returned to Mainz by train-arrival around 4:30pm.
The cruise was excellent--There was some English narration of what you were viewing from the boat.
The breakfast on the boat was very good--
We booked this trip on a beautiful hot day in July. We left from Mainz. The sight seeing was amazing! The boat was very comfortable with good food and bathrooms. When we got on the boat we told the guy taking the ticket that we needed to be back in Mainz and he told us the stop we needed to get off on which was right around lunch time. We had two hours to browse and then boarded the boat for the return voyage. I would love to do it again and buy three or four days passes as several of the stops would be great to overnight at. Definitely recommend it!
