• The Botanical Gardens – this 350-acre garden holds around 7,000 tropical species, including native Brazilian plants. The avenues of royal palms measuring approximately 100 feet (30 meters) high are one of the gardens' most popular features.
• Maracana Stadium – this giant stadium accommodates over 100,000 people and has hosted many championship games over the years, including the 1950 World Cup and the legendary Pele's last game.
