I traveled with my 80 year old mum to Florence and Pisa from Rome. The trip was very good, the guides were very clear and kind. The whole trip was perfect, on the first day the food in the restaurant was very good as well. I would have rated the trip as 5 stars, because everything was very good, however there was a lack of comunication when we arrived the hotel in florence, I did not know where to take the coach to go to Pisa the next day and nobody knew at the hotel, eventhough the guide told me that I was going to get my itinerary at the hotel. So I had to call Viator to get the information. Then when we came back from Pisa, I had to call again to know where to go the next day to go back to Rome. I would suggest that Viator should have prepared an itinerary and hand it to me on the first day, so I would know exactly what to do without stressing.
Third Day went wasted and the tour plan could have included Venice...
First Day: Florence and Pisa, Second Day: Venice, Third Day: Return to Rome would have been ideal
Yet staffs have been very helpful and friendly
I had friendly, well qualified guides.I was impressed that Viator could put together the various programs from different companies. However, this created frustration as nobody knew the details of the next step and I had to have the hotel call around to get details so we could learn where and when to be at a location. .
Upgrade to the Baglioni Hotel in Florence proved most worthwhile in terms of location and amenities. The tour companies Viator provided were very helpful and supportive. Loved the free time in Florence and Pisa!
I saw everything I wanted to see, but had a little more time in Florence than needed. The three star hotel was good.
Overall, the trip was good and a perfect length. The actual tour and guide in Florence was great. The length of time in Pisa was also perfect -- short and sweet. There is definitely more time to explore on your own during the 3-days than guided tours, so be sure to know what you want to seewhere you want to go. The biggest complaint would be the lack of communication from the tour company. We were the only ones in our group doing an overnight and weren't provided with any information on what happened once the day trip was over -- where we were staying, whenwhere to meet up with the Pisa group, or how we were getting back to Rome. The trip also promised the return to Rome by train, and we were greatly disappointed to find out that our tour company decided a shuttle bus would be cheaper, and therefore our way back. All in all, while the trip was good, the lack of coordination and communication by the tour company makes me feel I could have purchased tickets individually and bypassed the package "deal".
Because the tour is done with people returning to Rome the same day, who will stay in Florence is very tiring follow the trail. The 3 star hotel option is bad ride and tour escort was not gentle
There was absolutley NO coordination by Carrani trours on this trip. If we hadn't continued to ask, follow up and phone while in Italy on a World phone at 1.50min we would have not gone to Pisa and would have been stuck in Florence without a return trip to Rome. I would not recommend this to ANYONE. On the bright side Florence and Pisa are both must sees, but take the train yourself.
