This was our best part of our Paris/Rome trip! This 3-day Italy Trip went way beyond our expectations. We were in awe! Great guides, food, and scenery! Well worth it!
Overall the trip was wonderful. We were picked up at our hotel in Rome early morning and took the drive to the bay of Naples to get out stretch! Then on to Pompeii. The tour did include a beautiful lunch, however, it would have served everyone better to do the tour of Pompeii prior to the lunch as it was It was raining and hailing the entire afternoon. It was hard to walk around and keep up with our tour guide in the rain. She was going way to fast to keep up with and the rain was so bad you had to hop from stone to stone in some areas to get through it. They also left us hanging in the rain, after the tour, for over an hour waiting for the Carini tour bus to pick us up. That was very unorganized! The next few days were AMAZING!!! The hotel, which was an upgrade and well worth the small fee through Viator, included 2 breakfast's and 2 dinners. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Royal in Sorrento. It was GEORGOUS. We had a private balcany with an incredible view. The dinners were 5 courses with great service. Many pictures to share. The next day we went to Capri and AnaCapri via boat. That was beautiful as well. I would suggest taking the chair lift in Anacapri, however, beware if you are afraid of heights! I had no idea how high it was until I was already on it. The only way back down is to go all the way to the top and ride the lift back down.. You can see from the pictures what I mean.. They included a beautiful lunch here as well. We met some very interesting people and had plenty of free time at the end of they day to shop! The 3rd day we had the morning to explore on our own. We took a city bus to Positano. The bus dropped of off at the top instead of the town at the bottom. Nothing at the top except a few coffee shops and it was pretty cold. But the views were amazing. More pics of that. The bus ride back to Rome was not so great due to all the Easter traffic, instead of 3 hours, it was 6, but we made it back! This was a trip I would highly reccommend!!!
This is what Italy is all about!!! Best part of our 2week trip in Italy which included Venice, Florence and Rome. Upgrade to the Superior hotel and try to get the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori! Then upgrade to a Sea View room. Worth every Euro! Sunset over Capri and views of Naples the volcano and the harbor. Fabulous. Great tour guide in Capri -Sasha. He was great. Blue Lagoon was closed due to choppy water???? but the alternative boat cruise around the Isle was fantastic and better maybe. If I ever go back to Italy, it will be to Sorrento/Capri.
A fabulous three day trip, to summarise a highlight is almost impossible but Pompeii was up there, the Island of Capri and the Blue Grotto was also high on the list, then a free day to tour the Amalfi Coast. We stayed at the Michelangelo hotel in Sorrento. This is a fabulous hotel but the night we stayed here the power kept failing all night and every time the power came back n again it switched TV on which of course would wake us up, No mention of this at check-out, not even a hint of an apology anyway, it did not detract from a wonderful three days with outstanding guides.
This was probably our favorite part of our entire trip... with the exception of seeing the Pope... Our trip was March 14-16th and even though the weather wasn't ideal, we were able to see the Blue Grotto... which closed right after our group went in... we were praying to my St. Christopher and Mary charms and it worked! For the money you cannot beat this deal, our tour guides both en route Francesca and in Pompeii Sergio were fantastic, especially Sergio, his knowledge of Pompeii was amazing, we learned so much, if we had walked on our own we never would have known what we were looking at... and there is a lot. Although we didn't spend the allotted time in Naples, it didn't take away from trip, our guide gave us a constant history of the City en route. We enjoyed the extra time in Pompeii and Sorrento. Because we were off season, all our meals were included and it was amazing from lunch after our Pompeii trip to dinner at our restaurant, which was the Michaelangelo. Both Capri and AnaCapri were amazing, do not miss, we were lucky to see the famed Blue Grotto and walk all around the island pretty much empty in March. Again, lunch was amazing, we met some great people from all over, did some shopping. Again, we were off season so many stores and attractions were closed and the weather wasn't ideal it's a trade off, but we were very pleased. Fantastic price for what is included
Wonderful! Had three amazing days on this tour. Loved every second!
It was wonderful having someone else drive and make all of the arrangements. We enjoyed our tour guides. l The only think I would have changed is to have the guide explain some things about the drive from Rome to Naples. He did mention the Appian way, but we would have liked more narrative along the way.
This tour was absolutely amazing - extremely professional and knowledgeable tour guides, fabulous hospitality from Hotel Michelangelo (their 3-course dinners are incredible)! So many highlights and memories - and excellent value for money!
Fabulous experience!!! Well organized, timely departures and good quality accomodations and meals. Ornella was a wonderful guide.
This tour i would highly recommend. Guides were great in Pompeii and Capri and the hotel was beautiful.
We thoroughly enjoyed this side trip from Rome! The accommodation was superb - meals were included and they were awesome! Nice balance of free time and guided tours. The tour guides changed with the different areas visited - all were very knowledgeable, and passionate about their area. The scenery was spectacular (of course!). We definitely recommend this tour!
This trip exceeded my expectations. The tours were great, the hotel was at a perfect location and absolutely beautiful.
We had a wonderful time. We'd been waiting many years to see Pompeii and can now tick it off our bucket list. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, had a sense of humour and made our day very worthwhile. We took the hotel upgrade in Sorrento and had a fabulous experience. Our room and the food seemed 5 star. The view beyond gorgeous.
Due to choppy seas we didn't see the Blue Grotto in Capri. The island was over crowded and unless you want to spend your time shopping, I would recommend giving Capri a pass. Our guide there was wonderful in every possible way.
My daughter was feeling very ill on the bus ride back to Rome and the bus driver and our guide were both warm and compassionate and made the drive as good as possible.
We would definitely use Viator Tours the next time we are in Italy.
Viator tours are very well organized. The only experience that wasn't necessary was the tour through Naples. That was very ordinary...would be better spending more time in Pompeii.
Naples was a bit of a disappointment did not see much, Pompeii was great, Sorrento and Capri fantastic would love to go again.
The hotel and tours were wonderful. The getting from Rome to Sorrento and back was chaos and a large waste of time. However, overall I would do it again due to the sites, hotel, tours, and overall value.
Awesome! But too heavy traffic of tourists is not healthy anymore.
What an amazing experience!! We loved every minute of our time on this trip!
Pompeii was fascinating and although it was very hot, we still enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide was fabulous and very informative!
Sorrento is simply stunning and next time we visit I think we will spend a week there. The weather was perfect, our hotel was superb - We stayed at The Grand Hotel Capodimonte and there is so much to do and see! The shopping is incredible!!!
Capri and Ana Capri were also gorgeous, lots of lovely shops, the chairlift is worth doing and luckily we got to see the Blue Grotto! Our guide for the Capri day trip was Sascha, he was just wonderful and had a great sense of humour and was very informative!
I thoroughly recommend this trip is you have limited time and want to experience a small portion of the Amalfi Coast.
This was a great trip! We enjoyed Pompeii but Naples was the only let down, there was nothing to see and no time to see it. We were told the bus driver is required to take a break after driving a certain amount of time and that's why we stopped in Naples for 45 minutes. I would rather have taken a break at some little winery in the country or have spent the entire 45 minutes in Gambrinus which was the only highlight of the visit. Sounds negative but the rest of the trip was fabulous! Mainly because we got to stay in the GRand Hotel Capodimonte, which is truly a Grand Hotel! We still don't know how we lucked out with this hotel but we thank God or whoever made it happen ! It's beautiful with a superb location high up overlooking the town and the Bay of Naples (we think). The interior is beautiful with bright tile floors all ver, spacious rooms with sea views and a balcony and bathrooms that you could actually take a shower or bath in unlike most of the rest we saw in Italy. The food was excellent , the breakfasts were sumptuous and the pools were spectacular although we didn't have time to use them. I'd go back to Sorrento just to spend more time at this hotel, but we also liked the town very much and were lucky enough to be able to experience the Blue Grotto and Capri on a beautiful day. The Blue Grotto was a bit grueling but worth it We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to enjoy all this without any of the many possible glitches that could have spoiled it. Thank you for making it possible and we highly recommend it to others.
