Since we visited Rome in early November, our group was small and it was great. Coloseum was great, no lines to get in, the forum was better than expected, pantheon was cool. Trevi fountain was under repair, so we didn't stay for long. Not a bad walk, pretty relaxing and a good pace.
Despite a member of our party getting lost (long story), our family had a wonderful time on the tour. It was fun and informative. Great guide. Highly recommend.
The best way to experience the center of Rome! I went on this tour as part of a 4 day trip to Rome (it was my first time in the city) and this tour, together with the visit to the Vatican which I also booked with Viator, where the highlights of my trip.
Our guide was a 35 year-old charismatic Roman who spoke fluent English. Our group consisted of about 30 people and each of us had an audio unit with a headphone which transmitted the guide's voice perfectly, which meant each of us heard the guide perfectly in spite of the crowds in places like the Colosseum.
Our guide was thoughtful, attentive and very knowledgeable! During the 4 hour tour he gave us an endless amount of interesting information about the sights we passed which only a local would know (such as pointing out that certain apartment buildings are entirely occupied by the same family).
This tour was a fantastic way to skip the lines at the Colosseum + visit the main sights in the center of Rome, all with a fantastic guide. If time is of the essence for you, this is the best way to see the center of Rome. I suggest you do this tour on your first day so you have time to go back to the sights you have time to return to some of the sights you walk past on this tour if you so choose. I would definitely choose this tour over the hop-on hop-off bus.
Great guide who explained everything in detail and had perfect English. The colosseum exceeded my expectations. It was great to have a group to ask questions I never would have thought to ask, and to have a guide explain everything. Too bad that the trevi fountain is closed - guess I'll be back!
Michaela, who was our tour guide, took us back in history with this tour! Her impressive knowledge of the history of the Colesseum and surrounding area was informative and helped us understand the importance and purpose of the buildings she showed us. We were able to enter without lining up by using the Viator tour. That was welcome given the size of the crowds wanting to get in! This was a lovely way to spend a morning exploring the ruins of Ancient Rome! Thank you Viator! Donna Irene
The tour guide was well educated on the things we saw. She had a quiet voice so it was hard to hear her at times, but the tour itself was wonderful. I highly recommend the tour.
The ancient city tour with Alfredo was wonderful. He is a very informed guide. The group size was very good. The Coleseum is a must see on any Rome visit. The construction at the Trevi Fountain was a disappointment but it has to be done.
Good tour including many places. It is a 3 hour tour so cannot stay a long time in each place.
This was a pretty great tour. I learnt a lot about the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Our guide Viviana was great. She's a Roman archeologist and actually working on excavating a site between the Colosseum and the Roman Forum at the moment. She gave us some really great insights into the ruins and what life would have been like back them. I did the small group tour and there were only 5 of us. Well worth it!
We did this tour the first day we arrived in Rome. It was a great way to get yourself oriented to the city and see and hear about so many of the historic sites. Our tour guide was great.
The walking tour was really great, we had a very informative guide. The walk was a nice steady pace.
Arianna was an excellent guide! She was extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject. She had participated in a dig herself of Roman ruins and shared lots of interesting facts and stories. I would highly recommend the small group tour because, with just four of us, she was able to answer all questions and gear her talk toward our interests.
Our guide, Patricia was very good, her English excellent, the group was small and she was very attentive to our needs. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for Rome and its ancient monuments was infectious and we came away having learned a lot. My only criticism is that I did not realise that I had to buy a ticket for entry into the Colesseum on top of the tour price. Not sure whether that was my mistake or hidden away - nevertheless I would still say it was good value.
Excellent, excellent, can't say enough about this tour. This is a fantastic way to get in all the old historic sites that are all over Rome. You get nearly an hour in the Coliseum, learning all sorts of details about how it was built, what it was actually called (not the Coliseum), and why it is in ruins now. This still leaves plenty of time to see numerous other wonderful things, and they are all included. Our tour guide Niccolo was exceptional! Marvelous personality, a real love and appreciation for the things he was showing us, which was infectious, and a truly vast knowledge of every single thing we saw, the details of which he shared freely, down to the most intricate of details. He also had great sense of humor. Again, as I will say in all of my reviews (we booked 7 things through Viator), the detailed description of the meeting place for the start of the tour was perfect, and this tour company was there early to check us in. This was the highlight for me in Rome- just loved it!!
Amazing tour, even better tour guide Felix! Didn't want the tour to end it was so informative. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.
Highly recommended. The ability to have a personal guide who you can hear bad converse with;rather than be hurdled along was great.
The tour was great. It covered all the main areas but more importantly the tour guide was excellent and made the walks enjoyable.
An outstanding tour led by Marghera. She was very courteous and understanding with buckets of accurate knowledge.
Great guide through the ancient ruins. Perfect amount of time spent on this walking tour.
My wife and I were on our honeymoon trip and to visit some of the key sites in Rome is a must-do item in our list. The meet-up point was easy to locate. Tour set off timely. Our tour guide: Francesca (if i remember her name correctly) is a very professional, knowledgeable and friendly lady. Through the tour, we gained lots of information and facts about ancient Rome. Colosseum is really awesome and we took numerous nice photos at this site. Francesca done a great job by giving clear and descriptive explanation on the Roman forum too which allowed us to visualize how things were like in the past. Though the sun was strong during the walk, the tour was high spirited and i bet each of us in the group enjoyed it.
As the Trevi Fountain is under heavy restoration, the guide offered us an alternative and she brought us to the famous Pantheon. During our walk, she gave us small information on which are the nice restaurants to visit and which to give a miss etc.
A highly recommended tour to all.
